QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS :

The qualifications and skills for this position include :

• Proven computer experience in Microsoft Office and Windows based applications to include data entry experience;
• Basic clerical skills to include typing, word processing, and filing;
• Excellent verbal and written skills;
• Excellent customer service skills;
• Good organizational and basic accounting skills;
• Ability to be detail oriented and perform accurately under pressure;
• Ability to work independently as well as with others and be self-motivated;
• Professional demeanor;
• As this position requires direct contact with college administrators, faculty, staff, general public and students on a regular basis, the ability to deal with all types of individuals via telephone and in-person is extremely important.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to :

• Providing excellent internal and external customer service;
• Restocking merchandise as assigned;
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization of store;
• Answering telephone inquiries promptly and courteously;
• Completing filing and other basic clerical responsibilities;
• Completing data entry as assigned;
• Attending Part Time staff meetings at scheduled times;
• Working nights and weekends as required;
• Supporting all activities of the campus bookstore.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

The specific duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to :

• Providing excellent customer service to customers in store or on phone;
• Use proper etiquette when speaking with customers, whether in person, by telephone or by e-mail;
• Inventory control of merchandise to be monitored and accounted for as assigned; Keeping store appearance to high standards of cleanliness and organization;
• Processing receipts and other data into the computer system including mail orders;
• Completing other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Bookstore Operations Assistant and the Bookstore Operations Manager.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of thirty-five (35 ) pounds.

It al so requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, computer, cash register, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
