    Description:

    The purpose of ESY is to help some of our more significant special education students maintain the learning that has occurred during the past year. Our ESY Building Coordinators will be selecting teachers and teaching assistants for our ESY positions from the pool of applicants. The ESY Building Coordinators will base staff selections on their previous experience working with applicants and the recommendations from teachers who have worked with our students during the school year. Each year we do hire a number of college age graduates and college students with appropriate certification as a way to introduce them to the prospect of a career in education or to offer practical classroom experience for those studying to be teachers.
    ESY Schedule:
    June 10 & 11 - Staff Training
    June 12 - July 11
    No School June 19 & July 4
    Student contact Monday - Thursday
    Qualifications:
    Qualified candidates must be at least 19 years old.
    Qualified candidates will hold a valid Illinois Educator License with Stipulations (PARA), Substitute License or Professional Educator License, and experience with special education students preferred.
    Educator License with Stipulations (PARA) can be obtained by one of the following ways and applicants MUST submit their documentation to the DuPage Regional Office of Education in order for consideration:
    1. 60 semester hours of college-level credit (in a sealed, official transcript); or
    2. Passed ETS ParaPro assessment (460 or higher); or
    3. Passed WorkKeys assessments (Applied Mathematics-4, Reading for Information-4, Writing/Business Writing-3, and Acceptable on the Instructional Support Inventory (which requires observation of an applicant in a classroom setting). Evidence is the ACT WorkKeys Proficiency Certificate for Teacher Assistants.

    Rate of Pay: $16.75/hour or current rate of pay for existing teaching assistant staff members
    Working Conditions: 4 hours in the morning, times will be adjusted by level to accommodate transportation.
    Selection Procedure: Candidates will be selected by the ESY Building Coordinators.
