Independent Television Service is Hiring a Senior Producer/Editor Near San Francisco, CA

Description

Summary

The person in this role works within the Audience Development department, as a member of the Creative Services unit, and reports to the Creative Director. Responsibilities include: Supervising the Producer/Editor and Assistant Editor; developing and inspiring staff with creative concepts; demonstrating a command of the art of promo editing; editing on-air and off-air promotions, sizzle reels, and social media promotional content; growing post production capabilities and motion graphics efforts internally; staying abreast of the latest trends in movie trailers, show open and animation styles; and creatively solving for challenges or iterations required in post-production.

Specific Duties

  • Provide leadership to editors, developing workflows for broadcast delivery, asset management, and inter-team editing processes.
  • Work closely with Creative Director, Art Director, Graphics Designers and Producers to create innovative, compelling AV creative to meet the needs of on-air, digital and social media campaigns ensuring proper branding on all elements.
  • Brainstorm and script promos and social content from creative brief to completion.
  • Liaise with Post Media Operation Specialist to oversee finishing preps for picture, graphics and audio elements.
  • Collaborate with internal marketing and content teams (and, at times, external partners) to concept and problem solve based on creative briefs.
  • Help to develop creative and strategic frameworks to push best-in-class execution.
  • Deliver edits and projects on-time while always pushing the envelope on creativity and flawless execution.
  • Ensure all video deliverables fall within the overall campaign timelines and budget.
  • Research new trends, techniques, platforms, and tools to develop engaging social content that converts.
  • Set clear goals and expectations for staff, holding direct reports accountable for performance.
  • Identify, recommend, develop and implement procedures and practices to support a positive department and unit culture that fosters staff retention.
  • Create a team environment that inspires, empowers, and encourages creativity, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement within the organization.

  • Possesses expert-level command of design and motion applications, standard design applications, and video editing software including Adobe Creative Suite video products (Premiere Pro, After Effects).
  • Knowledge of all elements required for TV and Theatrical finishing.
  • Able to engage in conceptual ideation while possessing strategic sensibilities.
  • Able to give valuable, definitive feedback on ideation and framing.
  • Possesses a basic understanding of broadcast deliverables and delivery methods.
  • Able to deliver a high degree of attention to detail, specifically when handling multiple video projects, versioning, and receiving feedback from project owners.
  • Possesses a firm understanding of video compression and standard codecs used for broadcast and online.
  • Has a solid understanding of quality control.
  • Comfortable working with autonomy and nimble team structure.
  • Possesses a positive and solution-based attitude.
  • Able to work cross functionally, and effectively as part of a team.
  • Enjoys working as a team member as well as independently.
  • Adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.

Requirements

  1. Required: Five (5) years experience in a broadcast television or media production environment.
  2. Required: Demonstrated experience and proficiency working in Adobe Premiere, Encoder, After Effects, Photoshop.
  3. Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google’s Workspace.
  4. Preferred: Experience within a marketing, production company, or editorial house.
  5. Required: Operational experience of video workflows and project management systems.
  6. Preferred: Experience creating all forms of video content (30 second commercials, social vids, short for content)
  7. Preferred: Working familiarity with digital asset management software.
  8. Preferred: Working familiarity with camera and lighting equipment.
  9. Preferred: Experience using Asana for project management.
  10. Preferred: A passion for documentary film and a voracious appetite for all types of entertainment media.

Compensation

ITVS is a financial steward of public funds and committed to pay transparency, as well as providing equitable and competitive compensation for staff. For this role the pay range is $89,802.08 - $100,367.03 and all incumbent new hires base pay will begin at $89,802.08. This is an exempt position that pays an annual salary and includes a robust benefits package. Advancement in the pay range is dependent on advancement in the role.
