Position Summary

This position is responsible for design and development of program logic as it pertains to regulatory and operational reporting. This includes working with various departments to determine proper logic, complete specifications, coding programs, testing, and writing documentation for reports as required.

Essential Functions

  1. Develop reports and application software using various approved programming languages including JavaScript/Java, web design, SQL and applications like Planet Press, SAS/SAS Enterprise Guide, SSRS, .NET, C# and HTML.
  2. Implement approved changes to application software to maintain standards, correct problems, modify, or enhance application function.
  3. Participate in the definition of functional and technical requirements for application software. 
  4. In cooperation with technical support and operations staff, prepare application software procedures and documentation for usage, operation, back-up and recovery, problem resolution, shutdown and initialization and process automation.
  5. Document new programs and or changes to existing programs.
  6. In cooperation with the end user, test reports to assure accuracy, integrity, interoperability, and completeness to achieve desired results. 
  7. Document testing and training results.
  8. Analyze reasons for failure and revise assigned programs and/or procedures as necessary.

Education and Experience

  • A degree in computer science or equivalent experience, in combination with working toward a degree, is required. 
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft applications (i.e., Excel and Access) required. 
  • 2-4 years SQL and/or SAS Programming experience preferred.
  • JavaScript, Java, C#, VB, and ASP .NET experience a plus. 
  • Knowledge of the health care insurance industry a plus.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to think logically for interpreting and analyzing problems.
  • Ability to Travel

Required Skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to conduct effective presentations. 
  • Critical thinking, sound decision-making and solid leadership ability.
