Accounting Administrator

Independent Construction Company is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Accounting Administrator.

The ideal candidate will have passionate commitment to managing complex projects, be personable, proactive, and have knowledge of construction administration and accounting workflows and processes. This position will assist management to increase efficiency throughout the accounting department.

Responsibilities:

· Report analysis and findings to management team.

· Supervise the accounting department and may be required to assist in the responsibilities and duties of others within these departments.

· Provide leadership and strategic planning, motivation, team building and conflict resolution.

· Understand and support the interplay between project administration, estimating, operations, and accounting.

· Allocate monthly mobile phone costs to jobs.

· Review and process monthly credit card statements.

· Oversee and audit vendor, contractor, and credit card purchases and payments (ACH, check, credit card, etc.).

· Record payables, expense reimbursement requests, and prepaids.

· Review and record monthly fuel cost allocation to jobs and equipment.

· Review and assist in resolving billing discrepancies.

· Review and assist in implementing solid, cost-recoverable T&M and Lump Sum billings to ensure maximum billing potential.

· New vendor credit application processing.

· Business license application and renewals.

· Assist other departmental functions as needed to accomplish objectives.

· Special projects as assigned by the Office Manager.

Qualifications:

· Strong understanding of Accounts Payable and Receivable processing.

· Job cost accounting knowledge and experience.

· Preparing and submitting progress invoices for construction projects.

· Experience analyzing transactions.

· Demonstrated ability to manage concurrent deadlines with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.

· Strong organization, analytical, and recording skills.

· Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, with a sense of urgency and ownership of work.

· Have strong technology and software skills.

· Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills, including identifying data quality issues.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

· Demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to supervise others.

· Ability to be a self-starter and be able to multitask.

· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.

Education/Work Experience:

  • Five years of experience in construction accounting with supervision of three or more employees.
  • Accounting or related field degree preferred, but not required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite of software including Word and Excel.
  • Experience with accounting and construction software, Trimble Viewpoint and HCSS HeavyJob preferred.

Additional Information/Physical Requirements:

· This is a full-time, salaried position.

· Company conducts post-offer, pre-employment drug screening.

· Ability to lift and carry 10-20 pounds occasionally.

· Ability to sit for extended periods of time, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, finger, grasp, write, and perform repetitive motions.

· Hearing and speaking ability sufficient to carry on a conversation with another individual (or groups of individuals) in person and over the telephone.

· Visual ability sufficient to read and produce printed material and information displayed on a computer screen.
