Position: Driver
Reports to: Executive Director
Job Description:
The Driver is responsible for safely transporting IADC Guests to and from their homes and the Center. The Driver performs vehicle safety checks, escorts the Guests from their front door into the vehicle, operating the mechanical lift as necessary, make certain that all Guests are properly using seatbelts and chair straps, and ensures Guests are safely unloaded and escorted into the Center. The Driver must also accurately document details and communicate cancelations and requests to reschedule to the Center Administrative team. Drivers must know and be able to carry out the plan of care for each of the Center Guests. The driver must maintain a valid Operator License (CDL not required), have a clean driving record, and pass a physical examination.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle in a variety of conditions including inclement weather and at night. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects/people with or without assistance. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to use general office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, telephones, etc. Housekeeping duties such as cleaning, cooking, snow shoveling, etc. and assisting at sites with individual’s job duties which may include cleaning, lifting, snow shoveling, etc. Exposure to outside weather conditions while working with individuals.

The employee must possess the ability to process vague, abstract verbal and written instructions; work under stress, interruptions and tight deadlines; problem solve, answer questions and evaluate results of performance; and visualize and assess abstract ideas.
