Independence Health System, Inc. is Hiring a DATA COORDINATOR Near Greensburg, PA

Independently operates, tests, updates and coordinates staff training on the multi-user data systems across all Independence Health System.

Essential Job Functions

  • Collaborates with Mental Health management to develop, monitor, maintain and update department's data information system, scheduling system.
  • Consistently monitors current insurance guidelines.
  • Expedites the updating of data programs to coincide with new guidelines and coding master.
  • Performs needed updates to master schedule.
  • Coordinates multi-user data network across the Independence Health System Behavioral Health campuses.
  • Trains department staff when indicated.
  • Provides working resources, i.e., procedures, graphs, tables and flow charts.
  • Provides technical support for the daily operation of the department.
  • Troubleshoots any PC related problems.
  • Serves as a liaison between hospitals IT Department and Behavioral Health Department.
  • Reviews completed projects/programs to ensure goals and objectives are met.
  • Monitors current procedures to determine compatibility across campuses.
  • Retrains staff when necessary to obtain and maintain goals and objectives.
  • Verifies that correct diagnosis is entered on each account.
  • Updates diagnosis codes when indicated by clinician.
  • Reviews chart for proper diagnosis when necessary.
  • Maintains database of current diagnosis for each patient.
  • Coordinates Managed Care Authorization procedure.
  • Maintains working relationship with insurance companies to obtain timely authorizations for each scheduled patient visit.
  • Educates staff regarding any changes in authorization process.
  • Prompts staff to complete necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Post daily charges to accounts via computer as assigned.
  • Verifies that the scheduled service matches the charge posted.
  • Enters cancellations, failures, and no shows when completing end of day procedures.
  • Performs daily charge reconciliation.
  • Verifies that appropriate charges/units/costs centers were posted against the nightly IT Department log summary.
  • Maintains Charge Reconciliation Tracking Log. Investigates any errors.
  • Serves as a liaison between various hospitals departments.
  • Verifies that new procedures run accurately across all involved departments, i.e. EAP, Physician Billing.
  • Meets with other departments as needed to coordinate new/revised procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Competency and Experience [Knowledge, Skills and Abilities]

Required Qualifications/Experience

  • High School Diploma, GED or higher level of education.
  • Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Medical Terminology
  • Associate Degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • Experience in Healthcare setting.

License, Certification & Clearances

  • Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
  • Travel may be expected locally between System locations.
