Research Computer Scientist - Transportation Management Systems

Objectives of the Role:

• Serve as a software developer on teams developing innovative solutions for transportation systems
• Participate in or lead advanced research and development programs
• Design, code, and create complex solutions that impact the travelling public
• Interact with clients and participate in industry conferences to showcase technology offerings
• Share knowledge with team members to advance technology offerings and improve transportation systems
• Undertake daily and monthly responsibilities working in coordination with project manager and team members

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

• Guide team members on best practices of programming languages
• Participate in all phases of the development lifecycle, from requirements definition to system support
• Maintain code quality by writing unit tests, participating in code reviews, and debugging software modules
• Implement code using concepts of user interface design patterns, object oriented design, refactoring, test automation, continuous integration/deployment, networking, concurrency, modeling, and database design

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with relevant industry experience
• 3-10 years of experience in object oriented development using languages such as C#, C , or Java
• Additional abilities in other technologies such as SQL, Docker, Kubernetes, Python, AWS, React, Angular, GIS, etc.
• Desired experience leading tasks or mentoring other developers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work well in a team
• Valid/clear driver's license required
