Radiology Technologist -
This position is a weekend position and includes weekend commitment pay of 25% of employees base rate on Saturdays and Sundays. This position will rotate between a medical center and a medical office building. The shift is Thursday and Friday (8:00am - 4:30pm) and Saturday and Sunday (9:00am to 7:00pm).
MAIN FUNCTION:
Under general supervision, performs diagnostic, fluoroscopic and portable radiographic procedures as ordered by the physician to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Reports to supervisor of diagnostic radiology.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Produces radiographs:
a. Positions and transfers patients.
b. Provides immobilization devices as required.
c. Selects and operates equipment as directed.
d. Processes digital images using PACS.
e. Provides adequate radiation protection by shielding of patients and selection of proper exposure techniques.
2. Prepares opaque media for various examinations.
3. Maintains sterile techniques and participates in procedures requiring such.
4. Operates portable equipment in non-sterile and sterile environment.
5. Maintains a current NYS license.
6. Administrative responsibilities:
Maintains adequate records as directed.
b. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness.
c. Cooperates with all personnel in the proper conduct of the department.
d. Rotates within the department.
e. Maintains ethical relationships.
7. All technologists are required to supervise, evaluate and instruct students in the Radiologic Program, sharing their knowledge and expertise in a constructive/interactive manner.
8. Is familiar with and demonstrates Quality in Action principles and participates in the process as appropriate.
9. Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position.
10. Employee understands and demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the customer/patient by interacting with him/her in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to the customer’s needs, both psychologically and physically, and by taking the initiative to maintain communication with the customer in order to provide a secure/pleasant experience.
11. Provides age appropriate care to neonate, infant, children, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
