JOB TITLE: Design Engineer – Structures

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This position works on the product design team to develop
performance off-road components. The employee will provide engineering, manufacturing, and
project management support. The position will require the employee to perform all aspects of
the business including design engineering, 3D modeling, digital surfacing, drawing creation,
reverse engineering, component selection, cost calculation, and project management. The
employee must be highly motivated and have a passion for engineering and the automotive
industry. This role will offer engineering challenges that require an understanding of
performance off-road vehicle applications and severe customer use.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Provide design innovations and technical leadership as needed to achieve project goals.
 Maintain design engineering ownership of the project from concept through product
manufacturing launch.
 Perform FEA and other CAE analysis to make appropriate engineering decisions.
 Act as project leader to gather and understand all relevant project information, maintain
project folders, liaise with customers on technical issues, and interface with other
departments and functions as needed.
 Organize and conduct design reviews internal and external to the organization.
 Produce solid models and detail drawings, including Dimensional stacks and part and
Assembly GD&T
 Provide problem-solving capability both in-house and with the customer on specific
applications. Track, monitor, and communicate project open issue status for project
design/development/applications.
 Maintain awareness of program timing milestones related to design engineering and
achieve target timing for design/development tasks.
 Participation with colleagues in planning, execution, and reporting of validation testing.
 Analyze test results and recommend corrective actions in cases of performance non-
compliance.

 Work closely with Design Studio and Program Managers to ensure compliance with
customer's specifications and timing requirements.
 Participate collaboratively in the design and creation of test procedures; recommend
and implement improvements to test equipment, procedures, and methodologies.
 Perform all required functions on multiple applications simultaneously.
 Report to management and stakeholders on status, outcomes, and results versus
established targets and metrics.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
 Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
 Off-highway, military duty cycle knowledge is a plus.
 Solid understanding of design concepts, including mechanics, physics, kinematics,
materials science, etc.
 Demonstrated knowledge of various manufacturing and tooling methods including but
not limited to Metal stamping, Welding, Iron and aluminum castings, forging, plastic
injection molding, blow molding.
 In-depth knowledge and understanding of OEM product creation processes from
concept to production.
 Application of intuitive thinking, and pursuit of innovation and creative problem-solving.
 Demonstrated experience applying the use of commercial design and analysis tools (i.e.,
CATIA, NX, Solid Works, etc.)
 Strong interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
 5 years in Product Design
 BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
 Sitting: 6-8 hours at a time
 Standing: 1-2 hours at a time, there will be days standing could be 8 hours
 Walking: 30 minutes to an hour
 Lifting: 25 lbs. occasionally
