DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Allergy and Immunology Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for building and managing a patient panel, in addition to caring for and monitoring patients in the ambulatory infusion center (AIC).
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Round on infusion patients in the ambulatory infusion center.
- Provides infusions and injections to assigned patients.
- Educates patients on infusion therapy including potential side effects, expectations, and pre-medications.
-Treating and caring for scheduled patients within the Allergy and Immunology divisions that will include both routine and acute visit types.
- Answers clinical questions and serves as a resource to clinical support staff members working in the allergy and immunology division.
- Monitors patient labs and follows up with patient regarding any concerns or repeat testing needed to ensure he/she is safe to infuse.
- Reviews and signs infusion orders the day before each infusion to confirm patients are safe to infuse.
- Responds to and treats adverse effects associated with infusion and/or biologic therapy.
- Follows up with patients who experienced adverse effects the day after infusion.
- Communicates any adverse effects of infusion therapy to the ordering provider.
- Documents encounters in the EMR.
- Maintains GCP certification and other required certifications for participation in clinical research studies.
- Assists in answering infusion questions, placing orders, and other assigned tasks associated with allergy and immunology divisions.
- Stays up to date on all infusion products, including new therapies, prescribing information, and infusion protocols used in the AIC.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in nursing with valid CO Nurse Practitioner license.
- 1-3 years of experience, ideally with infusion therapy.
- IgCN infusion certification or willingness to obtain certification within 6 months of hiring.
- Maintains BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Current GCP certification or willingness to obtain immediately upon hiring.
OTHER:
-The ideal candidate must expect to remain on site for the duration of the patient's infusion, 4 days per week.
-This position includes travel between our Centennial and Smoky Hill (Aurora) offices on a weekly basis.
-Some Saturdays may be required
-This position requires participation in the provider on-call rotation
