Immunitas Therapeutics is Hiring a Principal Scientist/Associate Director, Translational and Biomarker Research Near Waltham, MA

Principal Scientist/Associate Director, Translational and Biomarker Research

Immunitas: the human approach to oncology

We are developing targeted therapeutics for patients with challenging, complex cancers. We employ
a single-cell sequencing platform to dissect the biology of immune cells in human tumors and
identify exciting, novel oncology targets. We are currently advancing multiple programs toward early
human clinical studies.

We are a small, vibrant team looking for researchers who:

  • want to see the direct impact of their work
  • are proactive and thoughtful
  • work well in a close environment at a rapid pace
  • bring “can-do” problem solving to work every day
  • get things done

Position Summary

Immunitas is seeking a highly skilled and engaged scientist with leadership experience and expertise
in translational and biomarker research, preferably with immunotherapy experience, to join our
growing team. This individual will help shape and execute the translational and biomarker strategy
across the preclinical and clinical portfolio. The successful candidate will guide translational and
biomarker studies to confirm/generate mechanistic insights and demonstrate target engagement/PD
effects of Immunitas therapeutic agents. He/She will ideally have proven success in building strong
translational data packages supporting INDs, defining biomarker strategies for preclinical/clinical
candidate stage programs, and implementing translational and biomarker programs in clinical trials.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Work closely with discovery and clinical teams to develop translational hypotheses, design
and implement translational studies to generate data supporting INDs, as well as leading the
design and generation of clinic-ready biomarker assays
  • Define and implement strategies for translational studies and biomarker assays using
preclinical models and patient samples to define PK/PD/efficacy relationships, patient
selection/enrichment plans and combination approaches
  • Oversee internal teams, external vendors/CROs and collaborators to develop, qualify,
transfer, and validate relevant biomarker assays to support development programs across
Immunitas’ pipeline
  • Perform and support clinical trial biomarker data analysis and interpretation to correlate
biological response with clinical outcome and enable evaluation of proof of mechanism and
proof of concept
  • Manage, mentor and develop translational and biomarker research team members
  • Develop productive, collaborative relationships with cross-functional colleagues in Discovery

Biology and Pharmacology, Computational Biology, Molecular Biology and Protein Science,
Antibody Discovery, and Clinical Development

  • Ensure delivery of agreed project milestones and timely communication of goals and
deliverables
  • Review and optimize existing processes to ensure best practice of preclinical and clinical
translational activities
  • Author and review technical reports and summary documents for regulatory filings as well as
relevant sections of clinical documents, scientific presentations, and publications

Requirements:

  • PhD in immunology, cell and/or cancer biology or a related field
  • At least 5-7 years of relevant industrial experience with a successful relevant publication track
record
  • Strong work experience in translational and biomarker research, preferably in human

immunology/immuno-oncology, using multiple orthogonal techniques and human tissues
such as blood and tumor tissue samples

  • Extensive hands-on experience with standard immunological techniques including multi-
parameter flow cytometry, cell sorting, immunoassays such as ELISA, immunohistochemistry,
and -omics based approaches, eg, single-cell RNAseq analysis, Nanostring, 10X Genomics,
multiplex immunostaining platforms, etc.
  • Experience in leading IND-enabling studies
  • Experience in leading implementation and execution of translational and biomarker studies in
clinical trials is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop important relationships with team members, cross-
functional teams, and all stakeholders to drive problem solving and transparent decisions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced,
team-oriented environment with colleagues from diverse disciplines
  • Rigorous scientific acumen with an innovative mindset of incorporating new technologies

into translational and biomarker research
