Work Location: Hybrid – Chicago, IL, Detroit, MI or Pittsburgh, PA. 

Role Overview:

The Regional Controller is a core part of both the Platform-level Finance team and the Regional Finance teams in both Industrial and Process Automation, responsible for the processes and controls that are in place to deliver accurate financial reporting in line with Group policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver a number of Internal Audit reviews within the Region each year on behalf of Group Assurance.
  • Carry out a series of monthly checks to validate accuracy of financial reporting and confirm key account reconciliations have been performed.
  • Work with finance professionals in the region as part of a schedule of balance sheet reviews.
  • Ensure adherence to key IMI financial reporting policies as part of P6 and P12 external reporting.
  • Develop controls frameworks to address significant risks within the region and develop solutions on how to mitigate them.
  • Support the project management process, ensuring that Project Management has up to date project costs and a consistent, comprehensive cost to complete process.
  • Build relationships with regional CFOs and understand their priorities / key deliverables, to ensure that controls exist and support those priorities.
  • Partner with Operations leaders to manage costs and drive Working Capital efficiency.
  • Oversee the annual hourly rate or standard cost update for the region.
  • Provide independent challenge on capital expenditure business cases and rationalisation plans to ensure they are robustly supported and benefits can be measured.
  • Support the Internal Control Declaration for the region, as well as drive timely completion of any internal control or audit actions.
  • Identify, share and implement best practice across the region to improve business efficiency.
  • Support with the integration of different policies, procedures and SOPs across Process Automation and Industrial Automation. 
  • Travel on average 30 – 50%. Overnight stays will be required. 

Critical Competencies for Success

  • A bachelor's degree with a professional certification such as CPA, or CA is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience is required.
  • Experience in a matrix reporting environment, with responsibility for prioritising their own workload.
  • Experience working across ERP environments, and the ability to identify controls and whether they are effective regardless of whether there is a system or not.
  • Clear understanding of end-to-end processes for IMI, from order intake to cash receipt, and all of the associated reporting and control points within those processes.
  • Be able to build relationships with key senior stakeholders both inside and outside of Finance. 
  • Have the ability to understand the wider implications of an issue and find solutions outside of Finance.
