IMEG Corp. is growing, and we'd love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a senior structural engineer in our Des Moines, IA office. This position blends the traditional engineering role and project management duties with expanded client development. You will be responsible for assisting the Client Executive by developing and maintaining client relationships, managing projects within one or more markets and having an established reputation within IMEG and with clients as being an expert.

Seeking Individual that is:

A motivated experienced engineer with strong client relationship and leadership skills Looking to join a rapidly growing structural group that is locally focused and nationally recognized. Strategic and driven to lead, mentor and grow a local group of structural engineers.

Some key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for complete design by discipline for projects of all sizes
  • Makes major design recommendations and design decisions with little input from senior staff
  • Plans design work by discipline for all project sizes and assigns duties to staff working on projects
  • Reviews correspondence prepared by junior staff
  • Actively participates in quality control of projects
  • Contributes to leadership in some aspect of our Technical Operations Team for both large and small projects
  • Acts as an advisor and analyzes technical problems/writes reports
  • Plays a significant role in project reviews for quality control for large complex projects
  • Provides technical assistance to help resolve field issues, must be able to visit project sites and resolve technical issues with very little assistance from other senior staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Key skills and abilities needed for the position are:

  • Must be able to perform all essential duties and responsibilities listed for Structural Project Engineer 2 and have demonstrated leadership traits in either the Technical or Project Management Path items
  • Mastery of the technical aspects of one's discipline
  • Ability to mentor, motivate, and lead others
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to travel up to 15% with occasional overnight stays

Education and experience requirements are:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering and have a minimum of 8 years of qualifying experience
  • Masters in Structural Engineering preferred
  • Structural Engineer license
