Duties & Responsibilities

• Research – Data Collection Contribute to on-site determinations, wetland monitoring, and assess potential sites for wetland mitigation by analyzing soils, interpreting hydrology, and assisting with vegetation surveys.Collect soil samples using a push-style soil probe with significant force with up to 580 psi of penetration resistance. Participate in long-term wetland mitigation projects specifically including evaluation of soils and hydric soil development.Support the collection of soil and botanical research data within the wetland science program.
• Research – Data Analysis/Interpretation Contribute to externally funded projects with colleagues at the Survey, PRI, and outside agencies. Prepare scientific reports for funding agencies and, if desired, for publication in professional journals. Provide GIS technical support towards wetland delineations and other projects as needed.
• Other Perform other duties as needed to further the mission and goals of the Survey, PRI, and the University of Illinois.Keep abreast of developments in this discipline.Participate in the Survey, PRI, and outside scientific organizations. Participate in outreach and education events that further the mission of the Survey, PRI, and the University of Illinois, as time permits
