Duties & Responsibilities (Assistant Director)

Infrastructure specific activities:

• Serve as the primary point of contact to facilitate the design, acquisition, and deployment of immersive infrastructures in collaboration with IMMERSE leadership.
• Oversee and manage the execution of all aspects of the infrastructure site development from pre-site through project completion including assistance with the procurement of larger equipment.
• Direct all operations related to infrastructure systems hardware and software acquisition, use, support, security, and backup.
• Oversee hardware and software infrastructure, prototypes, and testbeds, including sensors, wearables hybrid edge - cloud networks, servers, and data centers, hardware prototyping, user experience testing facilities, equipment and spaces for dataset generation and curation, etc.
• Lead development of common platforms and protocols across center physical and virtual infrastructure, including distribution and curation of center-developed hardware and software.
• Help deploy XR content authoring and assessment tools.
• Interface with campus administration units (e.g. OTM) and other key partners on all licensing considerations.
• Conduct testing and analysis of all components of network and server infrastructure components.

General center responsibilities:

• Advise IMMERSE leadership on the implementation of Center activities.
• Oversee, manage, and actively participate in the day-to-day IMMERSE activities, including communications and website management, community engagement, project management, etc.
• Develop, oversee, and lead seminars, workshops, symposiums, and sponsor visits.

Perform additional appropriate duties to further the mission of the center.
