The Deputy Title IX Coordinator of Compliance is responsible for helping to support the university’s compliance with the requirements set forth by Title IX, the Clery Act, the Violence Against Women Act ( VAWA ), and Illinois Preventing Sexual Violence in Higher Education Act. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator will report to the Title IX Coordinator and carry out the following responsibilities: remain informed of all changes in guidance at the federal and state levels in order to implement an up-to-date Title IX program to the campus community; manage Title IX investigations and the informal resolution process including maintaining excellent recordkeeping in Maxient; manage the annual faculty and staff sexual harassment prevention training; provide excellent individualized Powerpoint presentations to student groups and offices across the campus; create and edit Title IX office resource documents and assist with the editing of the Student Handbook; collaborate with stakeholders across the campus to develop and implement a robust Sexual Assault Awareness month campaign; manage and write articles for the annual Title IX newsletter campaign; assist with the completion of the annual Clery and ISPHVE reports by maintaining meticulous records of annual campus and individual trainings, and managing in Maxient and Google the Title IX cases received; and manage and update the Title IX website.
COMMUNICATIONS
This position requires a person with strong communication skills to communicate clearly verbally and in writing, using effective interpersonal skills complicated Title IX policy and regulations. The person will work directly with the Title IX Coordinator and the Dean of Students Office to interpret policy, draft internal and external documents, conduct Title IX investigations and manage informal resolution, as well as provide annual Title IX prevention training both online and in-person (virtual) as well as collaborate with campus partners on campus-wide training. This person will possess active listening skills and accurate note-taking ability as well as strong editing skills for use when editing office resources documents, policy manuals, marketing material, and letter-writing campaigns to make the language clear, accurate, and student-friendly whenever possible.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
This position requires using effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to demonstrate empathy and to use a trauma-informed approach when appropriate. This position requires someone who possesses the ability to engage and build relationships with students and student organizations, campus partners, and community organizations on an ongoing basis, making sure to use language that encourages collaboration.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related field. At least two years of experience working in higher education or a field related to the position (sexual assault, domestic violence, law, etc.) to include experience counseling in a trauma-informed environment. Knowledge of Title IX, the Clery Act, VAWA , and the Illinois Preventing Sexual Violence in Higher Education Act. Must have the ability to leverage technical resources and build own technical abilities in the execution of work. Preferably from the greater Chicago area, with a working knowledge of local resources for the campus community to use.
Knowledge & Skills
Familiarity with Title IX regulations, the State of Illinois sexual harassment law, conducting Title IX investigations, implementing Informal Resolutions, trauma-informed experience,
Experience using Maxient, Banner, Google, Microsoft Office, and virtual platforms.

Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibility
Developing, providing, coordinating, recording and managing annual campus-wide and targeted training efforts offered within and outside of the Title IX Office by ensuring compliance with state and federal law. Maintaining open communication with campus partners, students, employees, and volunteer investigators, using a variety of training methods. Primarily responsible for events, campaigns, and presentations provided throughout the year as well as Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Create and manage procedural manuals, policy documents, brochures/ handouts, and website as necessary. Responsible for centralizing and organizing information and policies that exists in many different places on campus.

Assist with investigations, which includes: fact finding, reviewing inculpatory and exculpatory evidence, assessing credibility, interviewing, providing case status updates, writing reports, and managing information in the Maxient case management system.

Key Responsibility
Create public relations activities to increase the campus presence of the Title IX Office and the services it provides. Examples include creating campaigns such as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Domestic Violence Awareness month working with campus partners to provide activities and workshops for the Illinois Tech community. Bringing in speakers, having lunch and learn discussions, and sponsoring 1-2 day learning opportunities for various groups across the campus. Identifying and applying for grants to be used to raise awareness of sexual violence and implement ways to prevent sexual violence from occurring.

Key Responsibility
Staying informed of current Title IX law by viewing online webinars, attending local workshops, and building partnerships with local community organizations such as Cook County States Attorney’s Office, Porchlight, VOICES , Chicagoland Title IX Consortium Group, etc.., and, recording annual trainings provided to the IIT community.
