Illinois Institute of Technology is Hiring an Assistant Director of SEVIS Compliance Near Chicago, IL

The Office of Global Services ( OGS ) at Illinois Institute of Technology, in Chicago, IL seeks an Assistant Director of Compliance to manage all federally reportable international student and scholar data, including the flow of large amounts of data from Ellucian Banner, Terra Dotta, and preparing batch submissions to SEVIS . This position/individual will also oversee the unit within Illinois Tech that issues all initial Forms I-20 and Forms Ds-2019s for F-1 and J-1 international students and student exchange visitors. This individual will serve as a designated school official ( DSO ) and alternate responsible officer ( ARO ), reporting to the Senior Director of OGS , a department within the Division Enrollment and Student Engagement.
COMMUNICATIONS
In coordination with the Director- Respond to University or U.S. Government requests for data validation.
Initiate regular IC targeted electronic communications with international students and scholars, and University divisions based on specified queries or updates pertaining to SEVIS .
Coordinate continual updates and maintenance of standard immigration/ SEVIS -related email texts.
Coordinate with all divisions and units, including undergraduate and graduate admissions, enrollment services, registrar, and other units to implement international program data management policies and procedures required by USDHS
Develop and maintain standard protocols in working with confidential documents and sensitive data.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Provides customer service to internal and external customers. Relationship and customer service is extremely important when working with the IIT community, especially international students.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Three years (3) of relevant work experience in a higher education environment with international student and exchange scholar populations and regulations, including understanding of SEVIS , F-1, and J-1 status and visa requirements.
Knowledge & Skills
Special skills and knowledge: Very strong preference for experience with Ellucian products, namely Banner. Strong expertise in use of all MS Suite Office applications. Experience in use of university student and personnel information systems preferred. Experience with the Terra Dotta student system is highly desirable. Ability to multitask, work independently, manage complex projects, and attend to detail in database management and required reporting.
SUPERVISION & BUDGET AUTHORITY
This Position will supervise Associate Advisors who issue initial immigration documents to incoming international students.

Key Responsibility
Manages federally reportable international student data, including the flow of large amount of data in Banner and Terra Dotta, and prepares batch submission from Banner into Terra Dotta to SEVIS , ensuring reporting compliance with federal regulations related to F-1 and J-1 international students.
Collaborates with internal and external staff to ensure that accurate data is collected and maintained in appropriate databases Provides accurate information as requested by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security ( DHS ) and the U.S. Department of State ( DOS ) in accordance with federal regulations, FERPA (Federal Educational Right to Privacy Act) guidelines, and campus policies.
Reconciles data inconsistencies among three systems, Banner, Terra Dotta and SEVIS to ensure integrity of data and timely and accurate data submission to the Department of Homeland Security for students.
Tracks international student course registration and notifies students whose enrollment does not meet with requirement of their nonimmigrant status.
Coordinates the daily tasks associated with SEVIS management, including, but not limited to: data uploads and downloads, SEVIS document management, daily alerts, etc.;
Oversees the OPT and STEM OPT student applications and provides training and resources to students preparing I-765 applications.
Prepares the annual Open Doors Report, provides campus international student and scholar statistics along with periodic reports on student-related immigration document creation, registration events, and status maintenance.
Conducts internal audits of student files and database records;
In collaboration with other campus departments, produces scheduled reports, letters, and other correspondence related to SEVIS system and federal compliance. Periodically advises international students and scholars on campus policies and federal regulations as they pertain to SEVIS ;
Serves as a Designated School Official ( DSO ) and Alternate Responsible Officer ( ARO ) for routine SEVIS record maintenance and record updates;
Understands and keeps current with immigration regulations as they pertain to the SEVIS program, and helps the ISO effectively communicate regulatory changes and updates to students and the affected campus offices.

Provide leadership and supervision to the unit that issues all initial immigration Forms I-20 and Forms Ds-2019s for admitted F-1 and J-1 international students and student exchange visitors.
Ensures compliance with institutional and federal regulations as it relates to the application process, document review process and most importantly the process by which international students receive their immigration documents as they prepare to enroll with Illinois Tech;
Create processes within the hub, to ensure maximum efficiencies that will result in student satisfaction, enhanced student experiences, which will ultimately increase university enrollment.
