IIE Organization is Hiring a Remote (REL) Research, Evaluation, and Learning Officer (Hybrid)

Job Description:

The REL Officer implements research and evaluation tasks in the Research, Evaluation, and Learning (REL) department. The Research Analyst designs and conducts monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of international fellowship and scholarship programs for IIE and external clients, including foundations, corporations, and government agencies, and conducts research studies on academic mobility and international exchange. The REL Officer is responsible for all aspects of M&E or research projects, including: (1) the design of an M&E or research plan; (2) implementing methodology; (3) data collection and analysis; and (4) communication of findings. The REL Officer serves as an internal resource for IIE team members on evaluation and research questions and practices and provides data support to the Office of the President and Business Development department.

The Institute of International Education (“IIE”) has a hybrid work environment that allows team members a combination of in-office work and telework at any of the locations listed above.

Essential Functions:
  • Drafts program monitoring and evaluation (M&E) plans and technical sections of proposals; creates Logic Models to guide program M&E. Drafts concept notes for research projects.
  • Develops data collection instruments and conducts qualitative and quantitative data collection, including liaising with external stakeholders and bringing in external secondary datasets as necessary.
  • Conduct desk research and literature reviews in support of larger research projects.
  • Conducts quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Develops REL publications (blogs, articles, etc.) and graphics and presentations for a range of audiences to promote IIE's thought leadership and represents IIE’s research and evaluation activities through presentations at domestic and international events and conferences.
  • Assists with special internal and external requests related to various M&E and research data.
Education and Work Experience:
  • Requires an advanced degree in order to apply in-depth knowledge of the theories and principles of a specialized work function, field or discipline.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Masters degree in social sciences field with focus on research methods
  • Familiarity of complex M&E and research-related concepts in an effective manner
  • Experience with interpreting data, analyzing results using statistical techniques and presenting findings in reports, utilizing excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Applied knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing large datasets (Excel, Stata, SPSS, etc.); knowledge of qualitative data analysis.
  • Ability to successfully implement simultaneous projects and competing demands in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

Salary Range: $55,043 - $70,386 (enter min - max and if Union only the entry of the grade). A candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, internal organizational equity, and geographic region.
