IIE Organization is Hiring a Remote Outreach & Recruitment Specialist, Fulbright (Hybrid)

Job Description:

The Fulbright Program is the flagship international academic exchange program sponsored by the United States Government. The Fulbright Outreach team supports recruitment activities for the U.S. Student and Scholar Programs by serving as the first point of contact for potential applicants, institutional representatives, and partner organizations throughout the U.S.

A key aspect of this role is management of all aspects of the U.S. Student Alumni Ambassador Program, including application and selection, onboarding, virtual and in-person event support, resource creation and legislative relations.

Additionally, the Outreach and Recruitment Specialist engages with potential applicants directly by developing applicant resources, responding to inquiries, executing promotional campaigns, and delivering presentations at conferences and U.S. campuses.

The Outreach and Recruitment Specialist primarily represents the Fulbright U.S. Student Program but maintains expert knowledge about the Fulbright Program more broadly. This position works across teams at IIE and serves as a subject matter expert for the U.S. Student Program.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops and implements the annual Alumni Ambassador Program work-plan, including application process, training, orientation, outreach travel and campus visit schedule.
  • Creates resources to support the Alumni Ambassador community and serves as the point of contact for the Alumni Ambassadors.
  • Manages all Alumni Ambassadors’ logistics, develops, and monitors program budget, and reports actuals.
  • Maintains and reports on Alumni Ambassador Program’s data.
  • Supports the Outreach and Recruitment Lead Specialist and the Assistant Director, U.S. Student Program in the development of strategic outreach and recruitment plan.
  • Accountable for recruitment strategy implementation. Serves as direct point of contact for potential applicants, Fulbright Program Advisers, and organizational partners interested in the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.
  • Represents the Fulbright Program before large audiences at virtual and in-person events.
  • Supports the virtual outreach recruitment strategy, including planning webinars; manages technical aspects of this virtual program and tracks registration, participation, and other metrics. Recommends changes to the virtual outreach program based on program’s performance with different audiences.
  • Develops, maintains, and supports key contacts at partner institutions. Interacts with institutions of higher education, scholarly associations and, as needed, other external constituencies, including Fulbright sponsor, vendors, consultants, and contractors, to professionally represent IIE.
  • Drafts and reviews program reports.

The Institute of International Education (“IIE”) has a hybrid work environment that allows team members a combination of in-office work and telework at any of the locations listed above.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Candidates may be asked during later stages of the recruitment process to provide samples of work that demonstrates their written and visual presentation skills, communication, and persuasion aptitude.
  • Ability and willingness to travel (25% of the time).
  • Occasional work and/or travel required on nights and weekend.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of higher education environment, including areas such as fellowship advising and international programs.
  • Significant experience in outreach and recruitment and/or volunteer management. Must exhibit professional maturity and be comfortable on a client-centered team. Demonstrates ability to use diplomacy in difficult situations.
  • Ability to organize and handle a large volume of work under severe time constraints and pressures.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, public speaking, and presentation skills.
  • Superior writing and editing skills and a thorough knowledge of the English language.
  • Demonstrates creativity and ability to suggest innovative yet practical solutions to new challenges.
  • Able to work as a team player- contributes to the team as well as handles tasks assigned by more than one supervisor.
  • Spanish language proficiency desirable.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook and applicable outreach and recruitment mediums.

Salary Range: $63,299 - $80,945. A candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, internal organizational equity, and geographic region.
