Job Description
IHI Power Services Corp. (IPSC) has a career opportunity for a Maintenance Technician at Sunnyside Cogeneration located in Sunnyside, Utah (Carbon County). The facility is a 53 MW waste coal fired power plant.

Job Summary
A Plant Maintenance Technician – is considered a multi-disciplined technician with skill sets that include working knowledge of the purpose and function of plant equipment and processes, the ability to use essential tools, and lead maintenance skills. The Mechanic reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. Maintenance positions are responsible for the maintenance of the site mechanical equipment, structural steel system, piping system, and all other duties as assigned. This maintenance could range from simple repair/preventative maintenance to more complicated and physically demanding repairs.
Job Functions
  • Maintain and continuously advance an individual's plant knowledge, both theoretical and practical.
  • Must have a strong desire to learn and teach.
  • Work with a computerized Maintenance Management System to generate, delegate, and perform work from lists.
  • Assist in updating and developing plant procedures to include lessons learned and best practices.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance on all plant systems.
  • Willing to learn the Control room operations to run the plant.
  • Build and conduct training with Maintenance personnel.
  • Helps Maintain the plant's inventory of tools, spare parts, fluids, and other supplies for plant operations.
  • Research parts needed for projects, obtain quotes, and create requisitions for material and supplies as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities may be representative of those commonly associated with this position, but not all-inclusive.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use lathe, milling machine, power tools, torches, welders, and hand tools.
  • Demonstrate using a micrometer, dial indicator, laser alignment, and vibration analyzer.
  • Demonstrate ability to use forklifts, man lift, and scissor lifts. Must also have experience with rigging.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interpret instructions and complete assignments independently or as part of a team.
  • Must have extensive experience with LOTO, CMMS, and Computer skills.
  • Must perform maintenance activities on all production machinery and related support equipment.
  • Maintains mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Work with contractors to complete assigned tasks.
  • Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communication skills, and be proficient with power and precision tools.
  • Must be cooperative with those they contact in this work and can work without direct supervision.
  • Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in operating and maintaining plant equipment and machinery.
  • Work within and ensure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
  • Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound.
  • Must work as a team – We must be able to pool our knowledge and energy to work in tandem to understand and productively respond to all the business challenges.
Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
  • Must possess a High school diploma or equivalent, trade school, related military service training programs, or technical training school programs. Additional professional training is preferred.
  • Must have a Minimum of 3 years experience in power generation facilities, process plants, or equivalent military experience. Additional experience with machinery repair and control systems is preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all the appropriate licenses as mandated by various agencies.
Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
  • Must wear Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, and other equipment. Working with hazardous materials may be required.
  • Although predominately indoors, it may include working long hours outdoors.

  • Physical requirements include the possibility of working on feet for extensive periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing, and routinely carrying 50 pounds.
  • All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer background check, physical examination, and drug screening.
  • Must work in elevated areas, confined spaces, and extreme heat and cold conditions.
