Job Title IT Support EngineerDepartment Remote Operations CenterReports To System Engineer Job Summary We are hiring a full-time IT Support Engineer onsite at our office located near the NASA center in Houston, TX. The purpose of this position is to provide IT support and system administration for the IHI Remote Operation Center (ROC) networking and system hardware in Houston, Texas. As an IT Support Engineer at our remote operations center, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our clients' SCADA systems and industrial processes. You will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and managing our clients' remote infrastructure, collaborating closely with our team of experienced professionals. The IT Support Engineer will work closely with the Systems Administrator, operation and integration team to maintain system cyber security and NERC compliance. Job FunctionsSupport the maintenance of systems including installing, patching, and upgrading workstations, servers, switches, firewalls, SD-WANs, VOIP telecommunications and other supporting hardware.Assist in ensuring that systems and network infrastructure adhere to industry regulatory standards such as NERC and other industry IT standards. Maintaining compliance through regular assessments and updates.Ensure the integrity and availability of existing operational platform, including servers (both physical and virtual), application delivery, networking, and telecommunications through proactive monitoring and maintenance.Coordinate with managed service providers for server management, security solutions, network hardware, and equipment upgrades.Assist with industrial ethernet networking in the operational technology (OT) space, focusing on setup, configuration, and management of communication equipment.Assist with the installation and configuration of our SCADA platform. Work with datacenter hardware (HP, Dell, Lenovo, Cisco, Sonicwall, Fortinet, Synology) and infrastructure software (VMWare, HyperV, Datto backup, Veeam backup, Antivirus, VPN, TV, monitoring tools, etc.).Assist in documenting, refining, and updating current Remote Operations Center (ROC) processes, IT policies, and procedures, including the creation, updating, and retirement of outdated documentation. Support Systems Engineer as needed.Travel to sites as needed to install/configure integration hardware, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and establish system connectivity when required. Monitor and maintain SCADA systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.Conduct regular checks on network connectivity, security protocols, and system backups.Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to SCADA operations and network connectivity.Collaborate with clients to understand their IT requirements and provide appropriate solutions.Assist in the setup and configuration of new SCADA systems and associated hardware.Participate in the deployment and integration of cyber and network security measures.Learn and implement best practices for system administration and network management.Keep abreast of the latest industry trends and technologies to enhance skills and knowledge. Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.Bachelor’s in computer science, information technology, relevant engineering field, or 4 years of relevant industry experience.Minimum of 2 years of experience in an IT-support role.Industry certifications preferred, not required with relevant experience.Preferred experience in power generation or industrial control systems. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.Communicates and collaborates with internal and external customers in a respectful and professional manner. Must have strong computer skills (knowledge of Windows Desktop and Server Operating Systems) and must have experience configuring industrial control systems. Basic understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPN, VLAN, Subnets).Self-motivated and eager to learn, with a passion for technology and innovation.Able to multitask when the situation is needed. Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.The functions of this job are conducted at the Houston ROC office. May require working up to 12 hours with weekend and holiday work if necessary to support a project. This is a 24/7 operation, and support may be required at any time, in certain circumstances.
