General Notes

The objective of this project is to build an interdisciplinary global network-of-networks focusing on aspects of learning, development, and culture as they relate to global education needs. Our AccelNET represents an advance in methods for engaging in scalable convergence science, as well as how to harness global science to accelerate cultures of learning. We aim to leverage technology, social science, and data science advances to create collaborative resources designed to elevate the global science of learning and education. We seek to implement a sustainable ecosystem of communication, synthesis, best practices, research, and innovation for a network-of-networks designed to accelerate the global science of learning. We will evolve an interdisciplinary network-of-networks, including social science researchers, neuroscientists, psychologists, data scientists, engineers, designers, global development practitioners, philanthropists, educators, and policy makers in order to create cross-cutting infrastructure to tackle pressing challenges in the science of learning to meet the needs of global education. The network leverages resources from four existing networks: the Global Science of Learning for Education Network (GSoLEN), a network of scientists, policy experts, philanthropists, and practitioners all focused on learning and education; the Center for Applied Cognitive Science (CACS), a center specializing on applying cognitive science to relevant problems using culturally appropriate measures and approaches, an educational technology and innovation network, Mind Center for Educational Technology (MindCET), and a global development network, Global Communities. Our AccelNET specializes in global development, learning, education, cross-cultural training, and policy.This position will entail taking a leadership role in project management and convergence science. The Project Coordinator will work with the leadership team and network of network collaborators to implement project activities, meet deadlines, and ensure deliverables are met.

Full-time position with a start date as early as April 2, 2024, and will be funded for one year with the opportunity to extend.

Purpose

The Population Research Center and Department of Psychology at The University of Texas at Austin (PI: Cristine Legare) invite applications for a Project Coordinator. The successful candidate will work on coordinating the Harnessing Global Science Networks to Accelerate Cultures of Learning Project, a research program funded by the National Science Foundation.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with funders, scientific partners, and principle investigators on a regular basis to ensure sponsor satisfaction of project/program technical and business execution.
  • Supervision of a large-scale international project.
  • Establish and maintain project goals and priorities in accordance with PI's guidance and intent to ensure the successful accomplishment of sponsor expectations and mission requirements.
  • Facilitate the investigation of new technical concepts and applications and prepare and submit budget and technical proposals for new and existing projects.
  • Continuously manage project budget, schedule, and resources to ensure the successful and timely execution of project deliverables.
  • Grant writing
  • Post award reporting
  • Other related functions as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Education, Cognitive, Social or Natural Sciences, Data or Information Science, or related fields.
  • Two or more years' project coordinator experience
  • Demonstrated ability and experience with Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Project.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD degree in Education, Cognitive, Social or Natural Sciences, Data or Information Science, or related fields.
  • Five or more years project management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience with Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Project, and JIRA software.

Applicant must have a dynamic skill set, be willing to work with new technologies, be highly organized, and be capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks and managing their time. The position requires attention to detail, effective problem-solving skills, and excellent judgment. The position requires the applicant to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision, and effectively communicate with groups of collaborators. The position requires the applicant to routinely work under pressure, accept supervision, and maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Salary Range

$54,389 depending on qualifications
