TITLE: Director of Finance
LOCATION: Carlsbad, CA
OVERVIEW: We are looking for a strategic, forward thinkingto join our nonprofit focused on supporting children and families struggling with homelessness. The Director of Finance is responsible for the company's long-term financial health and the organizations growth. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, strong accounting principles, have worked within a nonprofit organization and be comfortable aligning with strategic goals. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the financial strategic planning of the company by evaluating its performance and potential risks.
- Evaluate and develop the organization’s fiscal function.
- Support the development of the organization’s plans and programs.
- Perform regular financial analysis.
- Develop budgets that meet the requirements of company departments.
- Establish targets and manage all accounting and finance employees including management accountants and internal auditors.
- Support annual audit and filing of annual 990 tax return.
- Prepare detailed reports on the company’s financial performance.
- Guarantee compliance with financial laws and guidelines.
- Recognize patterns in company spending, revenue, and recommend solutions to any problem areas.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Non-profit organization experience required.
- Experience with financial analysis & forecasting, general ledger and fund accounting required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- An analytical mind with good organizational skills.
- Outstanding leadership skills are needed.
