CNC Machine Operator

Position title: CNC Machine Operator

Reports to: Cutting Supervisor

Supervises: N/A

Position summary:

Under the general supervision of the Cutting Supervisor the employee in this position cuts specified fabric based on cutting design requirements following all established work and safety procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform preventive and regular maintenance on cutting and operating heads, notifying supervisor of any concerns.
• Place inspected fabric on table and prepare it to be cut per customer specifications.
• Cut fabric per cutting design requirements, adjusting parameters as needed.
• Move cut material to appropriate table.
• Stack cut pieces according to procedure.

Marginal Job Functions

• Assist other department personnel as time and knowledge permit.
• Participate in training and meetings as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Working Conditions

• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to work 10-hour shifts.
• Must be able to work both planned and unplanned overtime.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

• Must be able to work professionally as part of a team with other department employees.
• Must be able to comprehend and perform duties using established work and safety procedures.
• Must be able to read, write and perform basic math functions.
• Must be able to demonstrate a comprehension of CNC machine operation and programming, including schematics.
• Must of a working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems.
• Must be able to effectively trouble shoot equipment.
• Must be able to read a CNC machine electronic pattern file.
• Must perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workloads.
• Must be a results oriented problem solver.
• Must be detail oriented.

Education and Work Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Previous Gerber cutting machine experience preferred.
• Mechanical maintenance training preferred.
