IDEAL ELECTRIC COMPANY, a 120-year-old, independent American manufacturer of high-power, specialty electric motors, generators, power systems and controls seeks an experienced welder who is a highly organized self-starter capable of working in a fast-paced, multi-disciplined team environment with the ability to manage competing priorities to achieve company goals while upholding a culture of ethics, integrity, and excellence in everything we do. This position, based in our facility in Mansfield, Ohio supports production objectives through understanding welding principals and extensive knowledge of various welding types. The position reports to the Machining/Welding Supervisor and works closely with the Production and Engineering teams to ensure welding processes are performed in accordance with prints and order specifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

  • Perform all types of welding, high and low temperature brazing of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, torch cutting, plasma cutting, rolling, braking, nibbling, punching, shearing, and sawing of a variety of parts, castings, forgings, fabrications, and subassemblies; may perform maintenance welding and tooling welding when required
  • Program and operate CNC Oxy-Fuel/Plasma Table
  • Repair defective welds, cracks, castings, and fabrications
  • Perform stress stabilizing on parts processed in welding department
  • Grind defects and over-welds, and remove flux to support the quality of all welds
  • Perform minor machining tasks including layout, pre-drilling, tapping parts for sub-assemblies
  • Perform layout on parts processed through the welding department
  • Other duties as assigned

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or certified equivalent.
  • Experience in a variety of welding disciplines including, but not limited to, torch cutting, plasma cutting, rolling, braking, punching, shearing, sawing.
  • Welding certification(s) preferred.
  • Ability to read prints, charts, tables, sketches, and specifications
  • Experience using forklift, overhead cranes and other lifting devices is helpful
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving capability
  • Teamwork approach with excellent communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time-management skills

WORKING CONDITIONS AND WORK HOURS

  • Daily minimum of 8 hours. Weekly 40 hour minimum
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays, and nights
  • This position generally operates in the manufacturing areas of the facility and may occasionally use standard office equipment such as phones, computers, copiers/printers.
