Job Description

The High School Equivalency Program (HEP) Instruction Specialist is committed to expanding educational opportunities to migrant seasonal farmworkers and their families. This position requires assisting in the development and delivery of a robust instructional and academic support plan that meets the needs of HEP participants and ensures that annual GED completion and postsecondary transition goals for the program are met. Key responsibilities include: 

  • Provides daily assistance to the HEP Lead Instructor / Advisor in the development and delivery of HEP instructional and academic support services throughout the region
  • Maintains current knowledge of GED exams, skills assessments, curricula, and materials
  • Adapts, monitors, and maintains online learning platforms
  • Teaches GED preparation classes
  • Provides one-to-one tutoring
  • Communicates with other program staff about participant needs
  • Completes other duties as assigned to ensure the delivery of high quality instruction and academic support services

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience working with historically marginalized population(s)
  • Experience working in an educational program
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Content expertise in math, language arts, social studies, or science
  • Experience with GED preparation and/or testing
  • Experience with online and/or distance learning
  • Specialized training in goal setting, motivation, or related field
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish / English
Additional Information

Salary will be between $46,050 and $49,500 per year,commensurate with education and experience.
