Job Description

The School of Nursing invites applications for a FNP/PMHNP Clinic Provider to provide primary care and mental health care to students, faculty, staff, and community in Meridian Idaho and teach a class each semester in the PMHNP-DNP program at Idaho State University. This will be a dual responsibility position and will report to the DNP coordinator for teaching and the ISU Meridian Healthcare Clinic manager regarding clinic duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach a graduate course each semester in the PMHNP_DNP program as determined in consultation with the DNP coordinator in the ISU School of Nursing.
  • Provide clinical supervision to graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Practice in the ISU Meridian Healthcare clinic as a psych mental health and family nurse practitioner.
  • With your clientele, patients at the ISU Meridian Healthcare Clinic, you will be expected to care for an average of 8 to 14 patients, 4 days a week.
  • In recognition of your increased workload due to the increased number of revenue-generating visits, you may be eligible for a stipend of up to 5% based on a internal equity and external market comparisons. Please note that the baseline visits number and revenue-generating visits goal may adjust from year to year based on the prior year's clinic performance.
  • Your clinic manager will review and assess the target number of revenue-generating visits annually during the annual evaluation period of all ISU employees in January of each year.
  • Write grants for funding in coordination with the clinic manager.

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and treat mental health and emotional disorders.
  • Offer individual therapy to patients.
  • Prescribe and monitor medications when necessary.
  • Maintain detailed records of patient visits and progress.
  • Assist in the development of individualized treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure patient continuity of care.
  • Educate patients and families about mental health and emotional disorders.
  • Participate in community outreach and education.

Family Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and treat health conditions.
  • Formulate treatment plans for acute and chronic diseases.
  • Educate patients on lifestyle habits.
  • Order and analyze diagnostic tests.
  • Counsel patients.
  • Prescribe medication.
  • Conduct examinations of the body.
  • Manage overall patient care.
  • Educate patients on preventative care and disease management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Nursing Practice.
  • Hold certification and unencumbered U.S. license as aPsychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) AND Family NursePractitioner (dually licensed).
  • Demonstrated ability to teach.
  • At least 2 years of practice as a PHMHNP or FNP.
  • Experience with interdisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with funded grants.
  • Previous experience teaching at the doctoral level.
  • Prior experience with teaching students in the clinicalsetting.
