IB is Hiring an UX Designer Near Washington, DC

We’re looking for an experienced UX Designer to become an integral part of our UX Design team. The ideal candidate will collaborate with product teams and end-users in crafting an optimal user experience for digital applications aimed at educators and students around the world.

The UX Designer will be is responsible for

Understanding current and future needs of IB’s internal and external users related to IB’s digital products; following the best design practices; consistently delivering user insights; optimizing processes; and enhancing the design process.
Partnering with other UX designers and product owners, orchestrating research through a variety of methodologies, executing studies, and transforming findings into practical insights that inform and guide product and design choices.

Job Discription: 

  • Engage with cross-functional teams to design and implement user-facing features for IB applications.
  • Facilitate internal design workshops to ensure team's alignment and shared understanding of information architecture and overall design direction.
  • Convey design concepts using tools like journey maps, user scenarios, and flow diagrams.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs that effectively communicate product functionality.
  • Test concepts directly with end users, analyse and derive insights to inform design decisions.
  • Guide development teams to move designs through the development process.
  • Guarantee a consistent user experience across various platforms and devices, adhering to IB
    Design System Harmony, IB style guides, and pattern libraries.
  • Ensure implementations follow web standards, accessibility, and usability best practices.
  • Stay current with industry trends in product design and user experience design field.
  • Be a thinking partner for the UX Design team, flexible and mature to be able to understand user needs, behaviours, and pain points, leading to more effective and user-friendly designs.
  • Collaborate with various teams and effectively convey design choices, providing clear explanations for the underlying rationale of these designs and their alignment with both user goals and business requirements.

Qualifications: 

  • 3 years in a UX design role or similar position.
  • A bachelor level degree or equivalent professional qualification in user experience design, graphic design, or other related disciplines.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing exceptional design skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with design tools such as Figma, Miro, Dovetail.
  • Familiar with building components for design systems (HTML, CSS) and documenting design decisions.
  • Understand accessibility standards and WCAG compliance best practices.
  • Good collaboration, communication and relationship building skills.
  • Empathy and passion for improving educational tools utilized by teachers around the globe.
