POSITION SUMMARY

Regional operations management of construction, installation, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of a Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) residential network.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees all aspects of regional construction projects, from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and budgetary constraints.
  • Directly manages aerial and underground construction utilizing in-house and contracted construction teams to ensure exacting standards of build quality and timeliness.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for build issues and conflict resolution.
  • Monitors, tracks, and reports daily production updates; recommend solutions to executive team for increasing productivity and/or decreasing costs.
  • Financial report preparation and tracking as it relates to regional construction projects. Presentation of such reporting to various audiences, including board of directors and company executive team.
  • Understanding of permitting process, including the identification of right-of-way and governmental permitting requirements for proposed routes. Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Interpret complex construction documents, such as prints, plans, and splicing diagrams used in the splicing of fiber optics.
  • Oversee design and engineering of approved projects, ensuring tasks such as final route recommendations, field engineering, and pole loading are completed on time and within budget.
  • Manage team to install, test, troubleshoot and maintain single-mode optical fiber (SMF) in a Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) residential network. This network incorporates innovative technologies such as a 10-gigabit symmetrical passive optical network (XGS-PON), and optical network terminals (ONTs) with Wi-Fi 6 technology.
  • Manage team to install, splice, terminate, troubleshoot, and repair optical fiber systems under limited supervision.
  • Represent company to vendors, contractors, clients, and the community.
  • Safety is priority-one. Performing the job safely comes above all else.

JOB EXPERIENCE – REQUIRED

  • Seven years construction experience, with at least five years in a managerial capacity in the fiber optic telecommunications industry.
  • First-hand knowledge of all aspects of fiber optic network installation, from route construction to drops, to inside-the-home installation.
  • Two years’ experience managing FTTH installation team members who perform the following tasks or possess the following skillsets:
  • Pulling and terminating fiber cabling.
  • Experience with XGS-PON and ONT with Wi-Fi 6 technology.
  • Fusion splicing and terminations.
  • Knowledge of optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR), light source, and power meters.
  • Familiarity with splice drawings and OTDR test sheets and reading traces.
  • Ability to read splicing matrix and design drawings.
  • Cable prep, single and mass fusion splicing, and termination abilities.
  • Optical fiber test and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) tools and geographic information systems (GIS) applications, including a familiarity with Google Earth and use of KML/KMZ files.
  • Proficiency in use of construction software, Microsoft 365 applications, and project management applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend blueprints, equipment manuals, schematics, and complex instructions.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and motor vehicle driving record that complies with public, safety, legal, insurance, and company guidelines. Ability to travel throughout the regional territory.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or comparable industry training.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • History of coordinating with vendors, contractors, clients, and the community.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction equipment and safe operating practices.
  • Record of integrity, ethical, professional, and personal standards supported by references.

JOB EXPERIENCE - PREFERRED

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification preferred.
  • Certification from the Fiber Optic Association (FOA) or similar trade group preferred.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
