The Director of Engineering will lead the work of all engineering teams at Hypercraft. You will provide technical leadership in the development of all EV component groups. You will guide the selection and leveraging of available tools and technology to fundamentally structure the company’s capabilities. With an eye on future product development, you will build a technically-sophisticated team to create and aggressively execute market opportunities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Build and develop high-performing engineering teams to drive capabilities, innovation, integration, and execution across the business
  • Drive EV system technology development forward within the company and industry
  • Share the technological vision, opportunities, and risks company-wide as appropriate, as well as with senior management and Hypercraft’s Board of Directors
  • Develop strategic plans that include timelines for evaluation, development, and deployment of all technologies and resources to ensure successful market delivery
  • Ensure engineering excellence (e.g. best practices and quality) is achieved in all Eng. teams
  • Operate and innovate with an iterative, agile and customer-centric perspective
  • Establish trusting relationships with key partners and stakeholders and act as a point of contact for important shareholders
  • Work collaboratively with each department to assess needs and establish technical solutions
  • Maintain a deep knowledge of the EV and Tech industries and competition
  • Cultivate a team environment that is highly collaborative, performance driven, and resilient
  • Ensure the company’s technologies and services comply with all safety and other requirements, laws, and regulations
  • Grow and evolve the company’s safety culture and procedures in all development activities
  • Wisely deploy company resources in effective software selections, data systems, telecommunications, and advanced automation involving or affecting engineering activities
  • Create and cultivate opportunities for technical and professional development for employees
  • Help create and manage key performance indicators, resource allocation, and task prioritization for those whom you oversee
REQUIREMENTS
  • Demonstrated history of leading and managing high-performing engineering teams
  • Demonstrated history of innovation in a highly technical field, especially with integrated high-performance complex systems
  • Collaborative leader able to work across organization to achieve success
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve system-level problems and issues
  • Mastery of engineering best practices and organization
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and delegate responsibilities
  • Ability to make fast and accurate decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt your communication style to the audience
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, and the willingness and ability to teach others

  • EV development experience
  • In-depth EV Battery and powertrain R&D, diagnostic, and troubleshooting experience
  • Startup environment experience
  • Detail oriented
  • Skilled communicator
