POSITION DESCRIPTION

Candidate will be responsible for a wide range of responsibilities within the HR department to include providing support and assistance within Benefits, HR and Recruiting areas of concern. A positive, well-organized, solution-oriented creative thinker will be a great addition to the HGL team! Reporting to the Senior Benefits Manager, the ideal candidate should be at ease in communicating verbally within the team and to internal customers in other departments and within the Operations teams, be detail/compliance oriented, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities and demonstrate 
 problem-solving skills; he or she will be flexible and work well both independently and collaboratively within a strong team, in an exciting, fast-paced, deadline driven environment.

This position is onsite in HGL’s Reston, VA office every day for 60 days, then hybrid work schedule (3 days in office) after that.

Responsibilities/Duties

The responsibilities and duties of this role include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  1. Administrative Support: Providing administrative support to employees, which may involve answering questions about policies, assisting with benefits administration, and handling any HR-related problems or inquiries, along with filing and data management/integrity.
  2. Recruitment Assistance: Assisting Recruiting team members with administrative support. This includes tasks such as checking references, conducting background checks, doing data entry, following up on interview evaluation forms, etc.
  3. Payroll Processing: Providing assistance with payroll processing functions. This involves ensuring accurate and timely payroll for employees and includes strict attention to detail.
  4. Compliance: Assisting with follow-up on compliance issues. Ensuring that all new hires are reported to state agencies as required. Sending out materials for FMLA and other leaves. Gathering documents related to accommodations and other legally required matters. 
  5. Employee Orientation: Conducting or assisting with new employee orientation to help new hires understand their benefits and acclimate to the organization. Managing the workflow and process of pre-hire onboarding in ADP and for a transition from Recruiting to HR during the hiring process.
  6. Record Keeping: Keeping accurate records of HR processes and employment-related paperwork.
  7. Guidance: Guiding employees through various HR processes and addressing their questions about working conditions, benefits, and duties.
  8. Other duties as assigned: Working on special projects such as awards and recognition management, data entry updates, list management, and more.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

For this position, the following experience/education will be considered:

  • Excellent attention to detail and very good organizational skills
  • Knowledge and experience using web-based work tools to include Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Ability to grasp ADP & Deltek systems use and accurate and detail-oriented approach to data integrity.
  • Willingness to perform administrative tasks and the ability to follow through.
  • Ability to partner within the HR and Recruiting departments and interface with the team as well as with employees at all levels, up to and including management at the Executive level.
  • A high level of energy, resourcefulness, professionalism, and a can-do attitude.
  • BA/BS with some experience as an intern or in a job, preferably in a customer service role or HR role.
