Hutchinson Community College is Hiring a Director of Information Technology (ADM3214) Near Hutchinson, KS

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for the leadership of the College’s Information Technology Services (ITS) department. The ITS department manages the College’s SIS application, portal development, computing, telecommunications networks, online learning, multimedia services and web services. The Director aligns the ITS department’s needs and efforts in meeting the College’s strategic priorities. This position is responsible for the management, coordination and facilitation of long range planning and daily operations of the College’s technology services. The Director provides vision, leadership, and management of staff for all ITS areas including infrastructure systems, cloud operations, network systems, development operations, and technical support.

Essential –

  • Lead and manage IT personnel.
  • Hire IT personnel including writing job descriptions, interviewing candidates, and making hiring decisions.
  • Provide project coordination, planning, and leadership in all technology projects.
  • Establish, measure, and define IT goals and maintain an IT roadmap.
  • Good working system administration knowledge of mission critical databases and software systems.
  • Ensure the continuous delivery of IT services through the oversight of service level agreements with vendors.
  • Oversee IT systems performance to ensure the continuous functioning of mission critical operations, analyze resource allocation to eliminate downtime and optimize performance.
  • Ensure IT data security, risk management, disaster recovery and business continuity planning processes are in place and regularly reviewed.
  • Oversee the support and maintenance of all hardware, software, and network components.
  • Ensure a secure and protected IT infrastructure.
  • Maintain personal professional development through continuing education, training, and participation in professional IT organizations and associations.
  • Collaborate and advise HutchCC departments, committees, and councils on how to leverage information technology to meet the HutchCC mission and vision.
  • Comply, enforce, and establish administrative policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Support and help facilitate the efforts of IT support staff to provide efficient and excellent customer service.
  • Serve actively on campus committees.
  • Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
  • Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.

Secondary –

  • Ability and willingness to present to a public audience and train in a public setting.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President of Finance and Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science, or a related field required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in IT management.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standard computer hardware and software systems.
  • Familiarity with IT industry standards, such as ITIL and NIST.
  • Good working knowledge of mobile environment/access to host computers.
  • The ability to work effectively and professionally with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Physical requirements include excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills; excellent organizational skills; ability and willingness to collaborate; ability to work independently; use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; light to moderate, indoor work environment.
  • Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.
  • Physical and mental qualifications must be performed with or without a reasonable accommodation.

SALARY and STATUS:

The salary is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration. This full-time administrative staff position is 12 months annual, benefit eligible, at-will, and exempt.
