Huntsville Hospital Health System is Hiring an Energy Manager-Plant Ops.-FT- 1st Shift Near Huntsville, AL

Overview

Job Summary

Responsible for the energy efficient operation of the Huntsville Hospital facility, including, but not limited to, both Main and East campuses. Conducts energy audits and identifies energy conservation opportunities (ECO’s) that can result in reducing costs without adversely affecting patient care. Responsible for directing, coordinating and maintaining the effectiveness of the Huntsville Hospital energy conservation measures (ECM’s). Establishes and maintains an energy accounting program for continuing analysis of energy use and the results of energy conservation measures. Acts as the hospital system technical consult on new and existing energy technologies, alternative fuel sources and energy-efficient practices.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

Education: HS/GED with an Associates degree in the electrical or mechanical engineering field from an accredited college or university. Additional supervisory or management-related courses and/or experience helpful.

Experience: Minimum of three years experience in maintaining and troubleshooting facility utility systems, including steam, chilled and processed water, vacuum, compressed air gases, electrical power and lighting, HVAC equipment, building automation controls, and various other hospital utility systems. Requires an additional three years in managerial experience in facility maintenance, engineering, or energy management field.

Additional Skills/Abilities: Must be knowledgeable in the field of energy management and be able to solve practical problems where a variety of variables may exist. Must be able to interpret utility data and utilize databases, spreadsheets, and other microcomputer application programs to store, process, manage and present energy conservation opportunities (ECO’s) as well as track results of energy conservation measures (ECM’s). Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Must possess working knowledge of codes, standards, and job-related ordinances with the ability to make practical interpretation and application in the physical environment and daily operation. Must be able to effectively communicate with others in both oral and written form.
