The Role
As a Senior Data Architect with HII, you will be expected to possess a comprehensive skill set, combining technical expertise, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of both cybersecurity and broader IT domains. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in all IT domains, including but not limited to network architecture, system design, cloud computing, data management, application development, and cybersecurity practices.
In this role, you will be directly responsible for driving the architecture of our data systems and processes - this involves designing, implementing and maintaining the technical systems that store, process and analyze data. Your primary focus will be on designing and managing enterprise data management frameworks, interpreting business requirements into technical requirements, and collaborating with various stakeholders to optimize data utilization to ensure that our data infrastructure is robust, scalable, and adheres to industry best practices. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand business needs to architect and design data solutions that drive decision-making and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Work across cybersecurity and IT domains to align technology capabilities with business objectives.
  • Create and implement scalable, resilient and secure architectures for systems, networks, applications, and databases.
  • Develop and maintain data architecture strategies to support the organization's objectives, emphasizing data engineering, intelligence, security, and governance.
  • Design, implement, and optimize data models and databases for efficient storage and retrieval of information.
  • Oversee the integration of various data sources, ensuring data consistency, quality, and reliability.
  • Establish and enforce data security protocols, including encryption, access controls, and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Lead initiatives for data governance, defining policies, standards, and procedures for data management and usage.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 14 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 12 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 9 years of experience.
A relevant professional certification can be substituted for the Bachelor's degree.
Nice to Have
  • Proven experience in a senior role focusing on IT systems, data architecture, engineering, intelligence, security, and governance.
  • Strong expertise in database design, data modeling, and ETL processes.
  • Deep understanding of data categorization and meta data deployment best practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of data security practices and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with industry-leading data management tools and technologies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across various teams and departments.
  • Ability to obtain clearance
  • Relevant certifications in data architecture or security
  • Experience in Department of Defense is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data solutions (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Experience in one or more areas across Data Analytics domain including data storage (Data Lake & Data Warehouse), data integration, business intelligence.
