Hunter Industries is Hiring a Central Plant Operator Specialist Near San Marcos, CA

About This Role:

The Central Plant Operator Specialist is responsible for reliability and efficiency of the central plant, utility systems, and all related ancillary equipment that supports the facilities and production processes. Documents the need for and implements the maintenance and emergency repairs to the same. Assures reliable utility service at specified conditions to the company.

Essential Job Functions/Tasks:

  • Leads efforts in resolving equipment related issues affecting Central Systems operations.
  • Implements effective preventive maintenance procedures and improves equipment reliability and performance.
  • Coordinates with operators and the facilities department to assure the central plant is monitored during operational hours.
  • Operates, troubleshoots, and coordinates the repair and maintenance of all utility system electrical equipment to include electrical switch gears, control panels, generators, motors, and motor controls.
  • Trains Central Plan Operators in equipment repair, equipment operation, building automation control systems.
  • Maintains central systems documentation. Is responsible for consolidating, organizing, and accuracy checking record‐keeping required to operate the central plant. Checks daily logbooks for accuracy and completeness. Consolidates and prepares records for the local regulatory agencies.
  • Issues purchase requests to maintain inventories of parts and materials and works with outside vendors and contractors to arrange maintenance activity necessary for efficient and reliable plant operation.
  • Must be available for overtime work as needed to perform maintenance and repairs to equipment.
  • Must be available to work on an "on‐call" basis as needed to respond to equipment failures or problems associated with utility systems on weekends, holidays, or other times when the cogeneration plant is not staffed.

Education/Training Required and Preferred:

  • High school diploma and two years trade school or equivalent.

Experience Required and Preferred:

  • Seven years of progressive cogeneration operation, power plant, central chilled water plant, central hydraulic system and/or boiler plant, operation experience with three years’ experience in a lead, supervisorial, or primary operator capacity.

What You Bring:

  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints, schematic diagrams, and technical data sheets.
  • May be asked to purchase own basic hand tools and electrical trouble‐shooting equipment.
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must have good analytical skills.
  • Must be able to work overtime when required.

The hourly rate for this opportunity ranges from $35.16 to $47.91

The Company complies with all federal/local/state regulations in regard to pay. The above represents the expected hourly range for this job requisition. Compensation offered to the successful candidate will be determined by qualifications, prior experience, other job-related factors, and geographic location.
