SKB Cases is looking for an enthusiastic, skilled and detail-oriented person to design injection and roto-molded cases for a variety of applications within the protective hard case space. As the in-house Design Engineer, you will be expected to work closely with sales and production teams to develop case solutions from concept to design, prototyping, and final implementation. You will also be expected to facilitate manufacturing of cases on an ongoing basis. This is a full-time position (Monday – Friday; 7am – 4pm) located at company headquarters in Orange, California.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

• Designing injection and rotationally molded parts and cases using industry standard software
  • Designing both steel and aluminum tooling to produce injection and rotationally molded parts and cases
  • Interfacing with in-house production planners, production managers, and quality assurance personnel
  • Cataloging and maintaining all current and future case designs
  • Maintaining a product release schedule for new case designs
  • Interacting with external engineering contractors
• Operating foam fabrication equipment (saws, waterjet cutter, glue equipment, etc.) to produce prototypes
  • Interfacing with partners and foam fabrication vendors to source materials and technologies
  • Interfacing with in-house production planners, production managers, and quality assurance personnel
  • Cataloging and maintaining all current and future foam designs
  • Maintaining a production schedule for prototypes and short production runs

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
• Proficiency with

  • SolidWorks
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Strong ability to work both independently within role (with minimal supervision) and collaboratively with a team
• Excellent multitasking and analytical skills
• Education/experience in engineering and drafting in the packaging or relevant field preferred
