Job Title: Title V DHSI Director

Location: College of Natural Sciences, Cal Poly Humboldt.

Wage: $80,000 - $85,000 / year

Hours: This is a Full Time, Exempt, benefit eligible position.

Supervisor: Director of Student Support Development

Reporting to the Director of Student Support Development, this position is responsible for
providing leadership and administration for the Title V DHSI grant.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Provide leadership necessary to accomplish program goals.
  • Responsible for administering and managing the Title V DHSI grant including preparing
comprehensive annual performance reports.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship and manage essential correspondence with the
Title V Program Officer.
  • Maintain all programmatic and financial files and records.
  • Maintain data collection for formative evaluation and coordinate reporting with an
external evaluator.
  • Direct, implement and coordinate all Title V related activities; track and adhere to
timelines established in the grant proposal.
  • Develop and implement all activities and experiences for students in the program.
  • Coordinate HIP, retention and graduation initiatives.
  • Recruit, select staff and faculty and provide professional development in alignment with
program goals.
  • Interview, hire and train employees; plan, assign and direct work; mentor; appraise
performance.
  • Arrange travel.
  • Accompany students to research presentation forums or conferences. Overnight travel

and a driver’s license are required.

  • Represent the program internally and externally, increase awareness of the project and
serve as spokesperson as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with PI, faculty and university personnel both
within Cal Poly Humboldt and the broader community.
  • Coordinate Advisory Board.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree. Minimum of five (5) years progressively
responsible experience in large-scale program development, implementation, and management in
higher education, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.Minimum of three (3) years
of experience working with state or federally funded educational opportunity programs,
academic support programs, undergraduate and/or graduate retention and student success
programs and/or similar programs for disadvantaged college students.

Preferred Job Requirements: Preferred qualifications include a Doctorate.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience in the areas of higher education staff supervision,
budget management, program development and evaluation, and reporting/compliance with
federal regulations. Formal training and/or work experience in programming that promotes
persistence, academic standing, and graduation rates of college students from one academic year
to the next. Knowledge of academic advising services; development of individualized service
plans and college, career, financial aid, and economic literacy services; and development of
programming for students pursuing careers in graduate programs and disciplines.

frequently required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is
occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or
crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision
abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to
