About the role:
In a Corporate Counsel role, you will manage legal business matters to protect the enterprise’s rights in contract negotiations, settlements, litigation and business practices. Your focus will be on regulatory compliance, especially related to retirement plans, corporate compliance, litigation support and intellectual property.
About the team:
The FIS Legal Team is comprised of 200 attorneys and paraprofessionals worldwide and is part of the Legal, Compliance & Corporate Affairs group, which includes 600 professionals who serve as advisors and partners with our businesses. FIS Legal works collaboratively with our business colleagues to solve problems, effectively and pragmatically. In our role as strategic enablement and support for business leaders across FIS in a variety of legal, compliance and corporate affairs matters, we assist our businesses in meeting their objectives with sound, reasonable and well-considered legal counsel, compliance analysis and support.


What you will be doing:

  • Act as subject matter expert for FIS’ Retirement business unit, including experience in qualified and nonqualified retirement plans (with defined benefit plan experience a plus), with expertise in both ERISA and Tax code.
  • Assist business unit development and operation teams in reviewing retirement plans for proper set up and reviewing operational processes for conformance to regulations.
  • Prepare and negotiate contracts while providing legal advice and counsel to business units in areas that include regulatory matters.
  • Perform legal research ERISA, Tax code and related information technology law issues.
  • Advise colleagues on ERISA, Tax code and other retirement plan related issues with respect to commercial contracts, product development and compliance.
What you will need:
  • A college degree and a Juris Doctor from an accredited US law school
  • Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in advising clients with respect to various retirement plans, including expertise in ERISA and Ta code
  • Experience drafting commercial contracts is a plus
  • Ability to review and evaluate multi-faceted issues and counsel business colleagues on complex legal questions relating to various business matters.
