Humane Society of the Treasure Coast is Hiring a STORE ASSOCIATE – PART TIME Near Palm, FL

These positions support the overall day-to-day safe and profitable operation of HSTC Thrift Stores pursuing the goals and objectives of the store and organization. Works across boundaries to identify solutions and maximize results. Trains and reinforces established policies, procedures, and practices with consistency. Maintains store in a safe, attractive, clean, and orderly manner.

The part-time position will work 3 days each week, 8 hours per day and has the same responsibilities as a full-time associate.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

Executes duties in compliance with HSTC policies and Thrift Store procedures as well as all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Responsible for store opening/closing duties including cash management and reporting as required.
Specifically for the cashier role, attempts to find a replacement if there will be no volunteer.
Interprets and reinforces the consistent use of policies, procedures and practices by staff, volunteers, and community service workers.
Maintains safe, clean, and orderly store conditions. Assures displays are attractive and routinely rotated. Promptly addresses safety or maintenance issues.
Troubleshoots issues, identifies gaps and offers solutions to problems or performance shortfalls to include store operations, customers, personnel, inventory, sales, etc. Escalates to senior leadership as needed.
Accepts donations from customers and sorts according to store process and standards.
Provides guidance on pricing. Identifies exceptional items and handles them per established procedures.
  • Rotates inventory making efficient use of sales floor and storage space. Recommends actions to address cases of surplus or overcrowded inventory. Alerts co-workers and senior leadership of extraordinary circumstances.
  • Pre-qualifies items for pick-up, and schedules truck pick-ups and deliveries consistent with agreed upon standards set by Store Managers.
    • Generates ideas. Works with employees, volunteers and HSTC Staff to explore and recommend innovative ideas to improve sales, profitability or to troubleshoot issues.
    • Maintains effective and consistent communication using established methods and channels.Fosters a positive, productive, team-based environment and culture.
      Fulfills all other reasonable duties as requested.

      Education, Experience, Skills, & Requirements

      Qualifications:

      • High school diploma or equivalent required.
      • Familiar with financial, inventory and marketing principles and results.
      • Basic knowledge in utilizing OUTLOOK, WORD, EXCEL, QUICKBOOKS.
      • Knowledgeable in a wide range and variety of general products, consumer goods and brand names.
      • Strong written and oral communication skills.
      • A minimum of one year in a retail environment, preferable in a non-profit setting.

        Must be able to:

          Physical Requirements & Work Conditions

          Sit, stand, walk, push, pull, and lift up to 40 lbs. May lift heavier items with assistance.
