Founded in 1952, the Humane Society of Sarasota County (HSSC) is Sarasota?s oldest animal welfare organization. In 2009, HSSC became a no-kill shelter and with the completion of our shelter expansion and renovation project in 2021, HSSC is now the area?s premier no-kill organization. We are seeking a compassionate and passionate veterinarian dedicated to helping animals in the community that would benefit from our care. Responsibilities Include:
? Develop a rapport with clients and determine their needs and wishes; perform
physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures in a
way that will deliver the highest quality care while minimizing patient stress and
discomfort.
? Explain physical examination findings and communicate to the client a diagnosis
of the pet?s problems; generate and present a treatment plan for the pet to the
client; educate clients on spay/neuter, preventative health care, including
vaccines and appropriate nutritional products.
? Maintain client, patient, and medical and surgical records, and make certain all
necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols; assist
colleagues in follow-up and future management of the patient.
? Stay up-to-date with new medical information and changes in veterinary
medicine, attend Continuing Education meetings.
? Positively represent the Animal Clinic and HSSC in the professional community
and to the general public.
? A commitment to providing affordable, accessible veterinary care and offering
products and services in keeping with a commitment to low-cost veterinary care.
? Treat all patients and clients with care and compassion, remembering that the
patient?s wellbeing is the top priority.
? Review patient records for completeness and accuracy and use as a tool to
promote medical excellence.
? Regularly discuss cases with doctors and/or staff to optimize patient care.
? Encourage all staff to increase knowledge through learning opportunities.
? Perform routine spay and neuter surgical procedures and some dentistry.
