Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County... is Hiring an Animal Caretaker Near Waukesha, WI

Animal Care

We are looking to fill part time positions in our Animal Care Area – great for students or anyone looking for fewer than full time hours (for the most part afternoon and weekend shifts are available). Must be available at least 2 weekdays from 3pm-7pm and one weekend day. (Start time can be adjusted for those that are dismissed from school at 3pm.)

These positions are perfect for animal lovers who enjoys an active environment. Job duties include feeding, walking, cleaning of animal quarters, building maintenance chores; some animal grooming, vaccinations, and administration of medication. The qualified candidate will be flexible, enthusiastic and energetic. Must be able to work with all species of domestic animals and some wildlife. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds and work safely on slippery surfaces in an active kennel environment. Must be able to drive

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Requires contact with the public that involves a high degree of courtesy.
  • Requires ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Requires the ability to work under pressure and under noisy conditions on slippery surfaces.
  • Requires the ability to lift 50 pounds and work on feet for long periods of time as the nature of the duties is animal handling and maintenance of animal quarters.

Reports directly to Kennel Managers and Shelter Director
