Position: Staff Accountant

Job Summary:As a member of the Finance team, the Staff Accountant will act as an accounting generalist performing an array of tasks from preparing contract claims to assisting with accounts payable and receivable, and daily finance office functions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Prepares and timely submits government claims and cost reports on a monthly and quarterly basis to the various governmental funding agencies.
• Assist with preparing government contract budgets annually and budget modifications throughout the year as needed.
• Performs tasks associated with the general ledger, including preparation and posting of monthly journal entries, variance analysis, accounts receivable/payable monitoring and analysis, account reconciliations, and assisting with monthly closing functions.
• Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliations for all agency accounts.
• Research, organize, and catalog all required support documentation related to recording entries.
• Assist in preparation and successful completion of each annual audit.
• Complete projects and other duties as assigned by the CFO / Director of Finance.

Job Qualifications and Requirements:

• AS degree in accounting required, BS degree preferred. 
• In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is required.
• A collaborative, hands-on style with colleagues at all levels.
• Knowledge of Financial Edge NXT and / or Yardi a plus.

License Requirements:  Valid driver`s license.

Other Requirements:

• The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be a self-starter. 
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task. 
• Good understanding and ability to apply math and accounting concepts. 

 Salary: $48,000 - $52,000
