Salary: 35K

POSITION OVERVIEW: This position will be cross functional; all Kitchen Aides will be expected to assist the cooks in all aspects of food preparation and service, serve food to participants while providing a high level of customer service, accept deliveries, clean dishes, utensils and pots, maintain order in the stock room and drop off food and beverage for meetings and functions, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent required. Conversational Spanish preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Participate in all aspects of food preparation, including baking, as required
  • Wash, clean and chill vegetables, fruit, etc. as directed by supervisor
  • Set up salads, juices, desserts, etc.
  • Assist in preparing food for the following day
  • Package individual portions of bread, crackers, butter, salad dressing and other foods
  • Assist in packing and delivering meals for off-site consumption
  • Keep the stock room in order
  • Do pot and/or dishes if assigned
  • Operate the dishwashing machine
  • Load rack, wash and aid dry dishes and store them in a clean, sanitary and orderly manner
  • Wash pots and pans, and store them in a clean, sanitary and orderly manner
  • Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment including dishwashing machine, dish racks, dish storage area, counters, shelves, walls and floors
  • Responsible for seeing that the wash temperature is at least 140 degrees and rinse temperature is at least 180 degrees
  • Be aware of programmatic targets and goals and work towards these in all activities provided to participants 
  • Collect and enter required data in a timely manner
  • Engage in professional development and apply learned knowledge towards using evidence-based best practices 
  • Engage in data analysis processes conducted by the Evaluation and Quality team to determine strengths and areas for improvement and follow action steps in the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process
  • Assist in carrying out and participate in Community Building activities to support organizational effectiveness and outreach
  • Other duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS: Typical kitchen environment that require frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing & reaching. Occasional stooping, crouching, and kneeling.

As a NYC contracted agency all positions at Hudson Guild fall under the NYC vaccine mandate. All employees, consultants, volunteers and interns must show proof of vaccination upon hire.
