HRP Associates, Inc. is Hiring an Environmental Inspector Near Clifton Park, NY

Job Description:

HRP has an immediate full-time opportunity for an individual familiar with multi-media environmental compliance, including but not limited to, air emissions, storm water, waste management, industrial hygiene, and construction project safety oversight. The candidate would serve as an Environmental Inspector at a job site in the Albany, NY area. JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Perform facility inspections to determine compliance with appropriate regulations, permits and consent orders including but not limited to RCRA, CAA Title V, SWPPP, and SPDES
  • The inspector shall participate in enforcement activities as necessary, including attending meetings and providing testimony as determined by management
  • Observe facility operations and construction activities daily from both on and off-site observations, as necessary/directed
  • Maintain daily inspection logs that at a minimum includes facility compliance status and general observations of activities and conditions on-site and off-site
  • Document discussions, and meeting minutes with facility personnel on ongoing basis
  • Conduct necessary multi-media sampling and appropriate follow-up corrective measures
  • Upon request of management, evaluate and review technical documents produced during the work year, including but not limited to monthly reports, variances, permit and modification applications, training plans, contingency plans, pollution reduction plans, waste minimization, sustainability, etc.
  • Preparation, generation, and presentation of monthly activity report(s) to management
  • Timely and accurate deadline driven submission of responses and correspondence to regulatory compliance authorities
  • Participate in all required on-site training, and in compliance and operational meetings with the facility, as necessary. This includes Federal and State environmental training, health, and safety training (facility and/or NYSDEC required), and any other site specific appropriate operational technical training
  • Completion of NYSDEC reports and participation in meetings including any contractual obligation work associated with the facility, as directed by the NYSDEC
Job Requirements:
  • Effective communication skills (active listening, written and oral)
  • Initiative-taking, with excellent client service skills and positive attitude
  • Organized multi-tasker with ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Ability to write in English
  • Solid computer proficiency computer skills including proficiency with Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Possess the ability to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material and variation in elevation (mud, gravel, rutted ground etc.)
  • Familiarity in working within industrial or manufacturing setting with associated construction interactions
  • Be able to wear standard PPE, (i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, safety glasses/goggles)
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Associates degree required; Bachelors degree preferred

Specific qualifications for the role include:

  • General experience in construction, environmental or technical science field services, environmental science, or compliance, preferably in a consulting environment is a plus
  • Field based position in all weather and all seasons
