JOB SUMMARY

Create a warm and welcoming environment for guests from the moment they enter the restaurant. Take guest's names for reservations and wait lists. Provide menus and show guests to their seats. Answer guest questions about the restaurant and menu, and assist other restaurant staff as needed.

JOB DUTIES

• Greet all guests with enthusiasm and friendliness.
• Control the flow of the restaurant and ensure that all seating requests are met.
• Communicate restaurant wait time to guests and answer questions as needed. 
• Answer the phone promptly (if needed).
• Handle guest’s special requests as needed. 
• Communicate with other employees to ensure guests’ needs are met.
• Maintain a professional appearance & demeanor. 
• Maintain a clean & organized entrance area.
• Inspect the restaurant for neatness and cleanliness.
• Perform cleaning & other side-work duties
• Ensure menus are always clean and available.
• Ensure guests have a positive and memorable experience. 
• Watch for safety hazards and report them immediately to your Supervisor/Manager.
• Complete all required training within the timeframe allotted. 
• Act in accordance with fire, health, and safety regulations and follow the correct procedures as required.
• Perform other duties as directed, developed, or assigned.
• Support environmental commitments by acquiring the knowledge, skills, and values to be a leader in the global goal of “greening” the hospitality industry.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 21 years of age.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Must meet grooming standards.
• Able to work as part of a team.
• Able to work with little or no supervision.
• Previous host experience in a similar setting.
• Working knowledge of POS system preferred.
• Previous hotel/resort experience preferred.
• Able to prioritize, organize, and follow-up.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to make concise decisions.
• Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal forms.
• Able to demonstrate high energy and strong enthusiasm for customer service.
• Able to work on your feet for extended periods.
• Able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Willingness to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

As a Gather & Hem employee, you will be required to take and pass menu knowledge quizzes. Training material will be provided on your first day and you will be required to study for the quizzes during non-work hours. A maximum of 2 hours of training pay will be allowed for each quiz. You will be required to successfully pass 4 quizzes within 5 days with a passing grade of 85%. Failure to successfully complete each quiz (4) will result in termination. 

Gather & Hem is an elevated cocktail lounge. We are open from 4pm-12am Monday-Friday, and 4pm-2am on Saturday & Sunday. All candidates must be available to work within these hours of operation and must be flexible with changing schedules based on business needs.
