Join our dynamic team as a Logistics Specialist based in Aberdeen, Maryland. We are seeking a detail-oriented individual with a passion for logistics and a drive for excellence.

As a Logistics Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating transportation activities, optimizing routes, and ensuring timely delivery of our product to customers across the region from our new distribution center.

Job Summary:

The Logistics Specialist plays a crucial role in managing and optimizing the flow of goods and materials within a company and to customers. This individual is responsible for coordinating transportation, movement of inventory, and distribution activities to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations. The Logistics Specialist will constantly find improvement opportunities and collaborate with various departments to streamline processes, monitor inventory movement, and address any issues that may arise during the supply chain journey. This position will be based at one of our US distribution centers. This role will report to the VP of Operations with a focus on supporting the US ground transportation and logistics needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate transportation activities, including carrier selection, scheduling, and tracking of shipments and returns.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with preferred carriers to reduce the number of carriers and overall transportation costs.
  • Manage and coordinate third-party logistics providers for additional shipping support.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, customers, internal sales teams, project managers, freight forwarders, and brokers to ensure customer satisfaction and efficient execution of transportation of goods, thereby enhancing overall logistics performance.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and customers to optimize inbound/outbound logistics costs and ensure timely deliveries.
  • Utilize logistics software and systems to track shipments, analyze data, and generate reports.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with shipping regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Proactively resolve any issues or delays in the transportation process.
  • Troubleshoot and address logistical exceptions such as delays, damages, and discrepancies, as well as handling customer inquiries or complaints related to shipping and logistics.
  • Submit and track damage claims with carriers.
  • Analyze logistics data to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Optimize routes/fleet by monitoring profitability and leveraging metrics/data, in collaboration with local Distribution Center managers and Customer Service leads.
  • Evaluate and negotiate contracts with logistics service providers to ensure cost effectiveness.
  • Implement and enforce logistics policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and technologies to propose continuous improvements.
  • Travel up to 10%.

Requirements and Knowledge:

  • BA/BS degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation or demonstrated equivalent.
  • 2 - 5 years in a logistics role supporting manufacturing or distribution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in using enterprise systems and logistics software (TMS); Microsoft Office Suite. Must be proficient in Excel.
  • A strong understanding of how global supply chain networks run is critical to success.
  • Proven track record of building and managing systems and procedures.
  • Strong relationship building abilities; energetic, approachable, and friendly.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills to operate in an environment with significant cross-functional collaboration.
  • Confident and effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills, driven to achieve goals and exceed expectations.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills, with common sense and practical solutions orientation.
  • Risk Mitigation orientation, capable of leading scenario planning that yields upside, nominal and downside options.
  • High energy level to thrive in a fast-paced autonomous environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
