HQB is Hiring an Operations Coordinator Near Paul, MN

The Operations Coordinator is responsible for supporting the operations of the Hallie Q. Brown Community Center in the areas of custodial, maintenance, and events. The incumbent will coordinate and promote activities of the Multiservice Center/Community Service program and support the Director of Finance and Operations in strategic facilities improvements. General maintenance and custodial responsibilities center around keeping all areas of the Community Center and property safe, clean, and functioning to best serve the community. This position will assist with the set up and break down of events and provide event maintenance as needed in collaboration with the marketing team to ensure that events run smoothly.

BENEFITS:

  • Hourly Range: $20.00 - $25.00
  • Evening and Weekend Pay: Additional $1.25

SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week with a scheduled 30 minute lunch (at least). The schedule will be variable based on event and center needs. This position is conducted fully in-person, with some nights and weekends needed.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Facilities Management

  • Oversee the effective operation of the facility, ensuring that that all areas (offices, program areas, classrooms, common areas, etc.) are safe, well maintained, and pleasant to use.
  • Work with building partners.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Establish and maintain preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Manage vendor relationships (phones, IT, snow removal, etc.).
  • Coordinate safety inspections and other periodic maintenance from external vendors.
  • Execute special projects related to operations, space use, and facilities systems as needed.
  • Maintain an order supply needed for maintenance/cleaning of the facility.

Maintenance and Custodial

  • Perform light building related maintenance (i.e. change light bulbs, minor repairs to walls,
  • paint rooms, etc.).
  • Maintain the grounds surrounding agency buildings.
  • Ensure playground areas are clean and safe.
  • Clear sidewalks and stairs of snow and ice in the winter months.

Event Support

  • Assist marketing team with set up of event spaces according to the specifications of the reserving party, including tables, chairs, and other necessary equipment.
  • Assist marketing team with breaking down events with care and efficiency, ensuring all property and equipment is protected from damage.
  • Be present at assigned events, working in the building, in the parking lot, upstairs and downstairs as needed.
  • Coordinate with marketing team to resolve maintenance issues that arise.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s degree in a relevant field, or demonstrably equivalent knowledge gained through alternative courses of study and life experience.
  • Previous experience in operations, facilities management, and customer service is preferred.
  • Interest in the human services nonprofit sector is required; experience working in a nonprofit setting preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of or ability to learn about city ordinances, safety, and other relevant requirements; Rondo area knowledge is desired.
  • Intermediate MS Office and internet skills.
  • Proficiency with calendar management (Outlook and Google Calendar).
  • Ability to work shifts of both office/sedentary work and active work throughout the building.
  • Ability to regularly walk, stoop, bend, lift, and carry.
  • Able to lift up to 75 lbs and be on your feet for long periods of time, including working in inclement weather.
  • Ability to physically assist with room set ups and tear downs (setting up/moving tables and chairs, set up A/V equipment, etc.).
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks at once and being adaptable/flexible.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Highly attentive to detail and able to work with confidential information.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstratable skills in communication and conflict management.
  • Available to work a variable schedule including evenings and weekends.

  • Knowledge and experience working with culturally and racially diverse populations in many different socio-economic conditions.

Licenses and/or Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet Hallie Q. Brown’s driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit (not applicable for new hires living out of state and working remotely).
