Job Summary – Assist the head coach in all facets of the program, accepting delegated tasks.

Minimum Requirements: Monitor, mentor, coach and recruit student-athletes participating in the
athletic program. Primary duty is to make independent decisions in the recruiting process as to who
will be recruited by the university and what schools will be visited. Assist the head coach in all the
following areas: practice planning and implementation, scheduling games, budget planning,
compliance, fundraising, marketing, travel, facilities supervision, maintaining equipment, supervision
of student assembly and chapel, and the academic success of student athletes. Organizational
abilities, communication skills, enthusiasm, and loyalty are valued attributes. The assistant coach
must also have a working knowledge of skills and strategies related to the sport, and may teach 1 to
3 hours per semester. College playing experience and three years of college coaching preferred.

Job Summary -The Assistant Coach is responsible to assist the Head Football Coach in all facets
of the football program, including compliance with NCAA and ASC regulations, and accept
delegated tasks from the Head Football Coach. The Coach provides support and leadership for a
football program that contributes to the holistic development of students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities -Monitor, mentor, coach and recruit student-athletes
participating in the athletic program. The primary duty is to make independent decisions in the
recruiting process as to who will be recruited by the University and what schools will be visited. The
assistant coach will assist the head coach in all the following areas: practice planning and
implementation, budget planning, compliance, marketing, travel, facilities supervision, maintaining
equipment, supervision of chapel and student assembly, and the academic success of student
athletes. The assistant coach will supervise 15-20 student athletes regarding class attendance,
tutoring attendance, academic challenges, and degree requirements. The assistant coach will
monitor facilities for safety and address any activity that is dangerous to the student athlete and/or
other students. The assistant coach may also teach one to three academic credit hours per
semester.
NCAA and ASC Rules and Regulations - The coach must remain in compliance with all NCAA and
ASC regulations including but not limited to the following:

a. Playing and practice seasons
b. Coach involvement in recruiting efforts
c. Pre-season and post-season workouts must be voluntary, open to all students, and

may not involve any athletically related activity.

Qualifications - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each

1. Education and Experience - Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or
university is required. Three years related experience and/or training or equivalent
combination of education and experience is required. A master’s degree and college
playing experience is preferred.

and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals in English; ability to write routine
reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of students,
employees of the University and the public

numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to
draw and interpret bar graphs

4. Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions
furnished in written, oral, or diagram form in English; ability to deal with problems involving
several concrete variables in standardized situations

5. Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a good

working knowledge of commonly used Internet browsers, Microsoft Outlook and Word
software.

6. License - Must have and maintain a current Texas driver's license at all times in

order to drive any university-owned, rented or the employee’s personal vehicle on
behalf of the University. Must be age 25 or older.

7. Other Qualifications - Must be able to travel at least 50% of the time during the spring

semester recruiting athletes.
