At Houston Methodist, the Supervisor Faculty Affairs position is responsible for the supervision of the daily operations of the academic appointments and promotion processes at Houston Methodist which includes collecting all supporting documentation, preparing dossier materials, and organizing research seminars. Reporting to the Director of Governance and Faculty Affairs, the supervisor position will direct and support all faculty-related initiatives, including, but not limited to, all faculty appointments and promotions, faculty recruitment, and annual performance evaluations. It will also provide strategic planning for updates for processing faculty appointments and promotions, in maintaining communication with Weill Cornell Medical College and other academic partners, and in allocating resources for all faculty appointments and promotions requests.
The supervisor position responsibilities include overseeing the daily work activities of the work unit/department staff, ensuring quality, productivity, functional excellence and efficiency. This position trains and supervises staff while maintaining adequate staffing levels and budget compliance. The supervisor position contributes to staffing decisions such as hiring, coaching, and counseling employees on work related performance. This position assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure a safe and effective work environment. Other duties for the supervisor position include participating in performance improvement activities, as well as providing support for department management to achieve operational goals. This position may also perform staff duties and responsibilities as needed.
